One is a general vigil for peace and a stand against this fascist administration held in Bristol, Vermont.

Today I gathered signatures to place an Article on the warning for the annual Town Meeting - which is in March. The required signatures are a percentage of the town’s population.
Town Meeting is a Vermont tradition where voters are directly responsible for voting on issues - often town budget requests or town ordinances - but sometimes more international issues.
This is the wording for the Article hoping to be brought to Town Meeting for consideration this year:

Shall the voters of Bristol advise the Selectboard to adopt the following pledge:

WE AFFIRM our commitment to freedom, justice and equality to the Palestinian people and all people and
WE OPPOSE all forms of racism, bigotry, and discrimination and oppression and
WE DECLARE ourselves an apartheid-free community and to that end
WE PLEDGE to join others in working to end all support to Israel's apartheid regime.

At least 16 towns in Vermont have already voted to declare themselves apartheid-free communities in solidarity with Palestinians. It will hopefully be on the ballot for many more towns this March.
Hoping to see Bristol vote YES.

Today we attended (after a Pro-Palestinian vigil) a protest in Middlebury, Vermont, in honor of John Lewis, a courageous black American who marched with MLK in the 60s and never lost his passion for justice and peace. He was a Civil Rights advocate and a long term Congressman.
The protest was also, of course, a cry against the cruelty, greed and fascism of this insane, out of control administration.

A little rain soaked but still intact.
My family, friends and I joined with thousands of people at the statehouse yesterday to protest against this madness.
There were over 1200 protests and hundreds of thousands of people attended them across the country - and in other countries too. (Thanks, friends!)
I was inspired to do this one after recently seeing a school play of Wizard of Oz. : )

Fed up to the far side of the back teeth with Mr. & Mrs. Happy-Happy’s banal doctrines and pious platitudes, and their clunky attempts to make her feel like the last creepy-crawly on Earth, she’s decided to join the true annelids and to Hell with social status, political hysteria and the cult of bad art.
