This is thanaka paste - the cosmetic of choice for Burmese. Thanaka is cute and many women, boys and girls wear it in both urban and rural areas. A portrait photo done after being blessed in the Pura Dalem Penataran.
She isr carrying the bija rice corns on the forehead and her upper brest.

In every Hindus ceremony, the Hindus people will pray as a symbol of gratefulness to the God. After they finished the blessing, they will get the Bija.
The Bija is usually made from rice seeds which are washed with clean water or sandalwood. Bija is the symbol of Kumara, the son of Lord Shiva.

This Barong mask is made in old tradition with money coins, rice corns and colored dry soya beans.
For the Balinese, Barong is the symbol of health and good fortune.

Burmese women colour their (and their childrens) faces with thanaka bark. It is ground into a powder, mixed with water and applied onto the face. It is said to protects the skin against the sun - and it lightens the colour of the face.

I Gusti Agung Ayu Adii Widiadnyani dressed to join the Kuningan festival hold on early morning in the small village Sembung.
Adii, as I call her with her short name, was dancing in many different masks as the goddess Vishnu, as the Bidadari flower girl, as the Lenda Lendi demon and at the Sekar Jepun festival.
