Juráňova dolina is a hidden natural jewel located in the northernmost part of Slovakia, right next to the Polish border. This dramatic limestone gorge sits in the Western Tatras mountains and is famous for its stunning, narrow canyon carved out by a roaring mountain stream. Roháčske plesá are a chain of glacial mountain lakes in the Western Tatras, in the Roháčska valley, beneath peaks such as Ostrý Roháč (2,087 m) and Plačlivé (2,125 m). The word pleso means a mountain glacial lake, so the name refers to the lakes of the Roháče area. They are special because the lakes are arranged in a dramatic stepped formation, one above another, which gives the place a very distinctive alpine character. For visitors, the appeal is not just the scenery but also the sense of remoteness, clear air, and classic high-mountain atmosphere that makes the area one of the most admired hikes in Slovakia.

Feng Shang Princess is a hand‑crafted floating pagoda restaurant moored on Regent’s Canal at Cumberland Basin, close to Regent’s Park and London Zoo, and was built in the 1980s as one of London’s earliest Chinese boat eateries. Its striking red, three‑tiered silhouette, strung with lanterns, has turned it into a small local landmark, much photographed from the towpath and favoured by canal strollers. Gentoo penguins are the 3rd largest species of penguin. They breed on the Antarctic peninsula and on Subantarctic islands, using snow free areas to build their nest of stones. Often the nests lie quite high up and the birds have to struggle uphill. Downwards they like to toboggan on their bellies;-)

These photos are from Peterman Island where all 3 species of pygoscelis can be watched (apart from gentoo also Adelie/ Pygoscelis adeliae and chinstrap/Pygoscelis antarcticus). Visitors should keep their distance and never block the birds' way to the sea.

The hovercraft is on route from the Isle of Wight to Portsmouth and the catamaran is travelling in the opposite direction. Best viewed large!

This was taken just outside the entrance to Portsmouth Harbour, with the. town of Gosport in the background. The tower in the background is the old Royal Navy Submarine Escape Training Tower (SETT), which was used from 1954 to 2020. Training is now done elsewhere.
