Die römisch-katholische Abtei- und Kuratiekirche Mariä Opferung auf der Fraueninsel in der Gemeinde Chiemsee im oberbayerischen Landkreis Rosenheim wurde vermutlich im späten 11. oder frühen 12. Jahrhundert über karolingischen Grundmauern des 9. Jahrhunderts errichtet. Bereits seit dem 14. Jahrhundert dient die Kirche des Benediktinerinnenklosters Frauenwörth auch den Inselbewohnern als Gotteshaus. In den Jahren 1928 und 1961/62 wurden im Chor romanische Fresken aus der Zeit um 1150 entdeckt und wieder freigelegt.

Der Name Auerbach geht auf das althochdeutsche „Urpah“ zurück, wird in einer Schenkungsurkunde von 980 erstmals erwähnt und ist der Namensursprung für die am Auerbach liegenden Orte Ober- und Niederaudorf.
Der Auerbach entspringt aus zwei Haupt- und mehreren Nebenquellen in einem Wald am Südhang des Wildalpjochs in einer Höhe von ca. 1380 m ü. NN, fließt dann im Oberlauf als kleiner Bach über Almwiesen südwärts zum Sudelfeld, vorbei am Arzmoos und von dort südostwärts, später ostwärts durch das weite Tal zwischen Wildbarren im Norden und Brünnstein im Süden.
Im Mittellauf vom Sudelfeld bis Bad Trissl ist der Gebirgsbach geprägt von zahlreichen kleinen Wasserfällen und Gumpen.
Auf einer Höhe von etwa 800 m ü. NN fällt er in einer Engstelle den bekannten Tatzelwurm-Wasserfall ** hinab.
Nach insgesamt rund 16 km mündet er beim Pfarrdorf Reisach in den dort nordwärts fließenden Inn.

Die historische Altstadt von Dinkelsbühl ist noch vollständig von ihrer Stadtmauer umschlossen. In dem Städtchen an der Romantischen Straße sind dreiviertel der Häuser über 350 Jahre alt. Viele von ihnen wurden direkt an die Mauer angebaut. Von beiden Seiten schmiegen sich Gärten malerisch an die Stadtbefestigung an, kleine Weiher schmücken den Mauergraben und auf der Gesamtlänge von 2.500 Metern befinden sich seit dem Mittelalter 20 Türme und vier Stadttore nahezu unverändert. The historic old town of Dinkelsbühl is still completely enclosed by its city walls. In this little town on the Romantic Road, three-quarters of the houses are over 350 years old. ➽ Die Aktion "Augsburger Stadtsommer" 2026 läuft von Mai bis September und verwandelt die gesamte Stadt in einen riesigen Open-Air-Kulturraum.
Ein Teil davon ist diese 5 Meter breite und 2,20 Meter hohe Sandskulptur - mit Nachbildungen aus der Augsburger Skyline. Das aus etwa 25 Tonnen Sand geformte Kunstwerk wurde von der internationalen Künstlergruppe Sandcity erschaffen und kann bis 07. Juni bewundert werden.
Neben der großen Skulptur gibt es eine Sandspielfläche zum Burgenbauen, Liegestühle und verschiedene Mitmachaktionen. (PiPs)

➽ The Initiative "Augsburger Stadtsommer" (Augsburg City Summer) 2026 runs from May to September, transforming the entire city into a vast open-air cultural space.
Part of this event is this sand sculpture - a 5-meter-wide and 2.20-meter-high replica of parts of the Augsburg skyline. Crafted from approximately 25 tons of sand, this artwork was created by the international artist collective Sandcity and can be admired until June 7.
Alongside the large sculpture, there is a sandy play area for building sandcastles, as well as deckchairs and various interactive activities. (PiPs)

Den schönsten Moment erlebte ich aber, als sich in dieser Szene der Dampfzug vom Bahnhof Streitberg Richtung Ebermannstadt aufmachte. Ein Bild für die Galerie! Ich bekomm jetzt noch Gänsehaut, wenn ich an diesen Augenblick denke. Und mit diesen Bildern ging ein wunderschöner Tag bei der Dampfbahn Fränkische Schweiz zu Ende.

Ein großes Dankeschön an die etwa 50 Vereinsmitglieder, die ehrenamtlich für die Dampfbahn aktiv sind.

The Altes Rathaus (Old Town Hall) with its colourful façade was built from 1422 in Gothic style. Work on the impressive building lasted 14 years. In 1576, the building was modified with a Renaissance-style stepped gable. The bells at the top bear the date 1617. There were also changes in the 16th and 17th centuries. The town hall was renovated in 1885/87 and the façade paintings were renewed in 1972-1975 based on 19th century originals

The facade, decorated with paintings, a covered staircase leading upstairs, jagged shapes and a beautiful Renaissance door - all this makes it one of the mosty beautiful buildings in South Germany.

The rooms on the upper floors of the Altes Rathaus are still regularly used for meetings of the city council and committees as well as for receptions. The Reichsstädtische Bibliothek (Imperial City Library) and municipal archive are located on the ground floor.

The Mangturm (Mang Tower) - located on the harbour promenade - is a square stone building, which was constructed in the 12th century as part of the medieval city fortifications. The tower had a height of 35 metres high and was equipped with embrasures. The Mangturm was a perfect observation post at the end of the city wall, which also included two neighbouring towers. In order to send signals to ships on Lake Constance, fire baskets were hung on a pole outside the tower.

After the construction of a new lighthouse in 1856, the Mangturm lost its function as a watchtower and signal tower. It was raised by one storey and covered with the distinctive glazed tiles. In 1914, the former tower keeper’s apartment on the upper floor was converted into a viewing room.

Die Bootsfahrt um das 3-Flüsse-Eck konnten wir leider nicht auf dem Sonnendeck genießen. Bei manchen reizvollen Ausblicken mussten wir uns die Regentropfen auf der Fensterscheibe wegdenken.

Die Bilddatei enthält die richtigen Koordinaten, aber die Darstellung auf der Karte ist falsch. Die Aufnahme entstand nicht an der Fritz-Schäffer-Promenade, sondern auf dem Inn nahe beim Gymnasium Leopoldinum (rechts im Bild)
