The 2.0 litre RS2000 version of the Mk2 Escort, with its distinctively slanted polyurethane nose, featured the Pinto engine from the Cortina.

It provided a claimed 110 bhp and a top speed of 110 mph ... boy racers (and the not so old racers) loved them!

The Ford Consul Capri coupé was produced by Ford of Britain between 1961 and 1964 and prior to launch was code named "Sunbird" as it took design elements from both the Ford Thunderbird and the Ford Galaxie Sunliner.

However, the car eventually proved to be very expensive to produce and in the latter part of its production was running alongside the very popular Ford Cortina. Sales were disappointing and so the Consul Capri was removed from sale.

The VX4/90 was a sporting derivative of the Victor, initially based on the Victor FB, but subsequently included in the FC, FD and FE Victor families.

This lovely example is an FD from 1971 and brings back fond memories for me. That's because it was making friends with someone in the late Seventies who had a customised Vauxhall Ventora (pretty much the same as the Victor) that got me into the custom car scene.

Without Allan Corrie and his "Evergreen" Ventora along with the encouragement of a few others who worked in the same garages owned by the infamous Scottish petrol-head Rico Peri (plus the launch of "Street Machine" magazine in 1979) this stream may never have come into existence.

The Sunbeam Rapier was the first of the "Audax" range of light cars produced by the Rootes Group, as announced at the London Motor Show in October 1955.

Although designed "in house", it was supposedly inspired by the new-generation Studebaker coupés of 1953.

Without the registration number to check the DVLA records I'm unsure exactly which year this one was made.

However, from the design elements it has to be either a Series III, which was introduced in 1959, or a Series IIIA which was introduced in 1961.

Interestingly, although DVLA says it was manufactured in 1966, they also say it was only first registered in 1983 so I'm wondering could it be a kit car or was it a barn find?

Henry Ford famously said that customers could "have a car painted any color that he wants so long as it is black" ... fitting then I guess that this beauty was indeed finished in black.

Interestingly though it was only registered in the UK in 2005.
