The “Casita del Cielo” is located on 9 de Julio Avenue in downtown Buenos Aires. It was built 100 years ago and was owned by a Spanish immigrant named Rafael Diaz, who made his fortune in the furniture business and built the house atop his 9-story building—similar to the summer homes of that era in Mar del Plata (a very popular beach resort in Argentina). It has now been designated a Cultural Heritage Site of Argentina, and there are several projects underway regarding the use of the building and the “Casita del Cielo.”

The Broeltorens (Broel Towers) - constructed from lime- and sandstone - are dating back around the year 1400. The southern Speytorre (to the right of the main photo) was constructed in 1385 to control traffic on the river Leie. The northerly Inghelburghtorre is dating back to 1415. The tower served as a weapons depot and was equipped for the use of artillery. The Broelbrug originally dates back to 1385. It has been destroyed and rebuilt several times.The towers were built by the Burgundian dukes and are remnants of the old city fortifications.

Broel' refers to bruul, which means a generally marshy or fallow piece of land.

Der im Jahre 1911 eröffnete 426 m lange Alte Elbtunnel wurde gebaut, um den Hafen- und Werftarbeitern als Verbindungsweg zwischen den Landungsbrücken und Steinwerder zu dienen.
Was ursprünglich eine technische Innovation darstellte, wurde spätestens nach Eröffnung des "neuen" Elbtunnels in den siebziger Jahren und weiterer neuer Brückenbauten im Hafen zur Touristenattraktion.
Seit 2003 steht der Tunnel unter Denkmalschutz.

Bussum - Voormalige Bensdorp fabriek

Bensdorp was een cacao- en chocoladefabriek die in 1840 door Gerardus Bernardus Bensdorp te Amsterdam werd opgericht. Het bedrijf was van oorsprong een chocoladeverwerkend bedrijf. In 1849 werd de eerste fabriek aan de Amstel gesticht. In 1884 werd in Bussum een tweede fabriek gebouwd.

Door de grote vraag werd de fabriek in Bussum, die de cacao prepareerde voor het hoofdbedrijf te Amsterdam, uitgebreid: in 1897 en ook in 1906. In 1906 telde de onderneming te Amsterdam 150 mannelijke werklieden naast 100 meisjes. In 1926 werd de Amsterdamse fabriek gesloten en ging de productie geheel over naar Bussum.

Bensdorp telde rond 1970 een duizend werknemers, van wie ruim 300 in Nederland. Het werd in 1973 overgenomen door Unilever. Het bedrijf kwam in 1985 in Zwitsers/Belgische handen toen het werd gekocht door Barry Callebaut. De productie verhuisde naar Frankrijk en de fabriek aan de Bussumse Herenstraat werd in 2000 gesloten.

In 2017 werd begonnen met de heronwikkeling van het gebied. De fabriek is gedeeltelijk gesloopt en gedeeltelijk omgebouwd voor andere doeleinden.
