In post processing I added a "grunge" style texture.

Der Begriff "Rabe" wird oft synonym für die Gattung Corvus verwendet, zu der auch Krähen gehören. Weitere Verwandte sind Elster, Dohle, Eichelhäher.
Raben können Werkzeuge benutzen, komplexe Probleme lösen und menschliche Gesichter unterscheiden.

Der Rabe und der Fuchs

Ein Rabe hatte einen Käse gestohlen. Er flog damit auf einen Baum und wollte seine Beute dort oben in Ruhe verzehren.
Da es aber die Art der Raben ist, beim Essen nicht schweigen zu können, hörte ein vorbeikommender Fuchs den Raben über dem Käse krächzen.
Er lief eilig hinzu und begann den Raben zu loben: „O Rabe, was bist du für ein wunderbarer Vogel! Wenn dein Gesang ebenso schön ist wie dein Gefieder, dann sollte man dich zum König aller Vögel machen!"
Dem Raben gefielen diese Schmeicheleien so gut, dass er seinen Schnabel weit aufsperrte, um dem Fuchs etwas vorzusingen.
Dabei fiel ihm natürlich der Käse aus dem Schnabel.
Den aber schnappte sich eilig der Fuchs, fraß ihn genüsslich auf und lachte über den törichten Raben... (Nach Äsop)

Güni's excellent macro photographs have inspired me to take some close up images again, and I'll get to it when the wind and rain ease up outside.

I took this one a very long time ago (over 20 years!) but I still rather like it. I got in close the the very centre of a water lily flower. The EXIF tells me I had an aperture of f8, which in hindsight probably wasn't narrow enough, as it could do with a little more depth of field.

Tempietto del Valadier, ein achteckiger Bau aus weißen Travertinblöcken, der 1828 vom Papst Genga Leone XII nach dem Entwurf des berühmten Architekten Giuseppe Valadier errichtet wurde. Das Gebäude beherbergte eine Statue aus der Schule von Canova, Madonna mit Kind, welche jetzt im Museum in Genga zu sehen ist. Im Tempel wurde sie durch eine Kopie ersetzt.

I found a dead Xmas tree in our local churchyard today, waiting to be taken by the recycling team. I thought the branches would make a nice abstract close up shot!

The quote ("Aut viam inveniam aut faciam", in Latin) attributed to the Carthaginian general Hannibal about crossing the Alps, seemed appropriate for this shot from quite a few years ago.

This was taken in Mexico, at an old Mayan temple site. I thought it was a great example of how nature will find a way to break through and reclaim land from humanity over time. Also, it's a good example of why you shouldn't plant a tree too close to your house! :-)

I was looking though my photographs from a visit to Iceland and came across a few that I'd taken inside the amazing Harpa concert hall in Reykjavic (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harpa_(concert_hall)).

It's an incredible structure of metal and glass; with multi-coloured and reflective geometric panels that hint at the lava columns in the surrounding landscape.

It's one of the most interesting and attractive buildings I've visited.
