Nevada has closed all non-essential businesses (including the casinos!) because of the coronavirus epidemic, and discourages all but essential travel (doctors, grocery trips, etc.) One specific exemption, tho, is going outside--as long as you avoid groups! So it's perfectly OK to take your dogs on hikes, and it means you can still take advantage of the large amount of open public land in the state. So here we are (Frank on the left, Shiloh on the right) on a trail in BLM (Bureau of Land Management) land in the Virginia Range a few miles east of my house. Usually on a weekday we see no one out here, but with so many people staying home there are more parties out and about than usual. It's still pretty deserted by most standards! ;)

Frank (l) and Shiloh, in Washoe Lake State Park, Nevada. We often go walking here! They're on lead because they tend to chase jackrabbits and then not return. Frank in particular has a propensity for getting lost!

Shiloh turns out to be a Catahoula leopard dog, named from Catahoula Parish in Louisiana. (Unlike the other 49 states, Louisiana is divided into "parishes" rather than "counties.") We adopted her about 6 months ago after losing Jill. She has a much sweeter disposition than most Catahoulas, according to the breed description! These dogs were actually bred to hunt down feral swine(!) in the southeastern US. She's friendly to people and gets along fine with the other dogs. She's also fond of water, about like a Labrador. Here she is playing in Washoe Lake. The insets show some other pictures, including those blue, blue eyes!

At Washoe Lake. We lost her this last fall. She'd had an attack of old-dog vestibular syndrome December a year ago, and recovered some last spring, but was never back to her old self; and then she started sinking fast in late summer last year. Not only was she pretty, she had a sweet personality--not a mean bone in her body. They estimated she was about 3 when we rescued her in April 2008. The insets are some other photos from her glory years.
