Die Laja-Fälle (spanisch Salto del Laja) bestehen aus vier Wasserfällen im Unterlauf des Río de La Laja etwa 50 km vor dessen Mündung in den Río Bío-Bío. Sie liegen in der Región del Biobío im Süden Chiles, etwa 25 km nördlich von Los Ángeles relativ nahe an der Ruta 5. Jährlich besuchen tausende Touristen die Laja-Fälle.

Die einzelnen Wasserfällen besitzen eine Fallhöhe von ungefähr 35 Meter. Stromabwärts der Fälle verläuft der Fluss ruhig und sehr niedrig und kann deshalb an vielen Stellen durchwatet werden. In der Umgebung der Laja-Fälle gibt es auf Grund des hohen Touristenaufkommens viele Hotels und Gasthöfe sowie einen privaten Wildpark.

Es war ein schöner Zwischenstopp auf dem Weg nach Süden ... und später auch auf dem Rückweg! Jedenfalls schmeckt bei diesem Anblick der Pisco Sour besonders gut (PiP)!

Along a very nice walk near Painswick in Gloucestershire, the path runs through a country estate. Tocknells Court is a historic and architecturally significant Grade II* listed detached country house surrounded by around 40 hectares of private land, complete with 16th century barns.

It was last sold in 2020 for £4.3M / €5M, so, while delightful, it's a little out of our price range!

Plovdiv, formerly Philippopolis, is the second largest city in Bulgaria. It is located in the southern part of the country, in the central part of the fertile Upper Thracian Lowland, on the Maritsa River.
The first settlements within the borders of modern Plovdiv date back to the Neolithic era and are dated around 6,000 BC.
Around 1200 BC, a Thracian settlement called Eumolpia was located here.

Looking up the coast from the Ex-lighthouse (see previous image). The PiPs show the entrance to Jervis Bay and the position of the new (1898) lighthouse at Point Perpendicular. Best viewed large.
