Actually, to me it’s more some kind of a party gag. I had never seen Jägermeister bottles this size, and was pleasantly surprised to be presented with one, but one has to pump like crazy to fill even the smallest glass.

The house of my mother-in-law will be our home base in the Netherlands, but as it is, there is still much to be done. We arrived on Sunday, exactly one week ago, and all we had was a small table, from my mother’s kitchen, a few chairs, and beds. And the paraphernalia of a Real Man, of course: a bottle of Jägermeister and an ash tray (the ladies preferred wine).

After a week of hard work, we now have more chairs, TV and internet access, a clock, a piano, some ceiling lights... And there’s more to come!

Why would you drink Jägermeister? There has been an advertizing campaign in which all kinds of people gave their particular reason for drinking it. They haven’t asked me, but I would have said: “I drink Jägermeister, because I need it.”

That isn’t true, of course, but I do like it, and it doesn’t have the stigma that I ever had too much of it. BTW, last time I drank too much must have been some 20 years ago –and I NEVER got violent or even moody... Thank God for a weak stomach! :-)

Anyway, living in Germany doesn’t mean we haven’t remained Dutch in many ways, but we have adopted German beer and the 35% herbal brew you see here (actually, with me drinking this before dinner, my wife drinks sherry ... could be a case of “six connections”, as the two women in my life ... well, never mind).

Oh, before I forget it: this fuel costs about US$70 a gallon, and don’t worry about the bottle being almost empty: there is a full one around somewhere...
