The approach to Rum

As our ferry approaches the Small Island of Rum we get to see a great view of its two rugged peaks; Askival (left) and Hallival (right) . This is part of the Rum Cuillin ridge, situated within the Inner Hebrides off the west coast of the Scottish Highlands.

Askival: Rising to 812 meters (2,664 ft), it is the highest peak on the Isle of Rùm and a prominent Corbett characterized by its sharp, conical profile.
Hallival: Positioned immediately adjacent to the east, recognizable by its broad, stepped ridge formed from ancient layered igneous rock intrusions.

Beer is a seaside village and civil parish in the East Devon district of Devon, England. The village faces Lyme Bay and is a little over 1 mile west of the town of Seaton. It is situated on the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site and its picturesque cliffs, including Beer Head, form part of the South West Coast Path

Otherwise known as Beacon Rock. It is in reality a small, active navigation light built in 1901 and is 7.5 meters high standing just outside of Mallaig harbour. In the background we see the shores of the Isle of Skye with its impressive mountains further away.

As our ferry departs on its approx. ninety minutes sail from Mallaig to the village of Kinloch on the Isle of Rum, the deck hands get ready to release the hawser. We are very lucky here as our usual holidays of damp grey weather has miraculously turned warm with blue skies.

Oben auf dem Ausichtspunkt, oberhalb von Playa de las Teresitas, haben Graffiti-Künstler einige der Begrenzungsteine bemalt. Der Stein hier auf dem Bild sieht durch die Farben nun wirklich aus wie ein Fisch.

Der Roque des las Bodegas, Am nördlichen Strand des Anagagebirges, kann auf einem kleinen, in den Fels gehauenen Weg begangen werden. Den Namen erhielt er bestimmt im 17. Jhd. denn hier florierte einst der Weinhandel. Die Bauern der Umgebung lagerten ihren Wein in kleinen Hütten am Strand.

As we returned to the mainland from the small isles aboard the CalMac Ferry the M/V Loch Nevis the days Sun and been replaced by a thickening sea mist, the ships Fog Horn blasted a safe passage to the port of Mallaig, as we came nearer to shore the mist backed away and the ghostly figures appeared on the end of the breakwater,

The statue of a Fisherman and Child that stands at the entrance to Mallaig Harbour on the west Coast of Scotland. The statue was donated to the community of Mallaig by the sculptor, the late Mark Rogers of Knoydart. Mallaig was once the Europe's busiest Herring Port and is the most westerly harbour on the British Mainland.
