Als der Aufruf für den diesjährigen Weltfotgrafietag 2026 gestartet wurde, wußte ich bereits, daß es mir in diesem Jahr nicht sehr schwer fallen würde. Da hätte es schon sehr widrige Umstände geben müssen, meine Kamera nicht in die Hand zu nehmen. Die Schwierigkeit war eher, da ich nun von unserer Schweiz-Reise wieder zurück bin unter vielen Bildern eins auszuwählen. Der 19.08.26 war geprägt von einer Schifffahrt über den Vierwaldstädt See von Luzern nach Vitznau. Von dort mit einer Zahnradbahn nach Rigi Kulm, mit einer weiteren Zahnradbahn wieder hinunter nach Goldau. Motive, was Eisenbahn betrifft (was mich besonders interessiert) und was die wahnsinnig schöne Landschaft in den Alpen betrifft, gab es genug. :-))

Und genau das ist es, was mich an der Fotografie reizt. Neues zu entdecken. Sowohl mit dem Herzen, der Seele, als auch mit der Kamera. Andere Fotografen habe ich dabei nicht im Sinn, vielleicht Bilder von ihnen. Steve Nordby von IP schrieb in einem Kommentar im Diskussionsstream: "Bewundere ich die Fotografen oder liebe ich einfach nur ihre Fotos? - Das ist ein feiner Unterschied." So sehe ich das auch. Deshalb will ich auch hier niemand benennen.

Für die Aufnahme habe ich eine ganze Weile überlegt. Eine Aufnahme von der Seepromenade von Luzern, Landschaftsbilder mit tollen Aussichten von der Rigi, Aufnahmen von der Zahnradbahn ... Aber ich dachte mir, die Aufnahme soll für sich wirken. Eigentlich ein einfaches, unkompliziertes Bild, bei dem mich die verschiedenen Blautöne der Gebirgskette und das Glitzern im See fasziniert haben. Das Bild ist entstanden bei der Fahrt über den Vierwaldstädter See Richtung Vitznau.

When I took this photo on 27 November 2010, I was looking up into the trees and had only a camera and telescopic zoom lens. I had none of the special lighting equipment and so even after digitally brightening the image, the photo remained less than desirable. Now with AI and asking it to change the back lighting to front lighting, this photo has been rehabilitated as if I had the special equipment in the first place. :)

I also had AI remove the branch in front of the owl's face.

Photo of a Coral Hairstreak butterfly (Satyrium titus nectaring on an orange butterfly weed (Asclepia tuberosa) plant -- one of its favorite nectar sources.

This is the first time since 2015 that a few orange butterfly weed plants (considered endangered) blossomed on the grounds of the Rye, NY nature center.

Ein Meer aus Wolken, sanft beleuchtet vom ersten Licht des Tages. Den Sonnenaufgang aus dem Flugzeugfenster zu beobachten, wird einfach nie langweilig. Diese Farben sind die beste Belohnung für jede Reise.

Heute Vormittag hatte ich einen Weg auf eine Behörde in Chemnitz zu erledigen. Der Führerschein soll erneuert werden. - Gelegenheit für einen kleinen Bummel durch die Innenstadt zum Stadthallenpark, das frühlingshafte Wetter zu genießen. Genug Platz zum Ausruhen ist ja da! ;-))

Persepolis (Old Persian: Pārśa,[2] New Persian: Takht-e Jamshid or Pārseh), literally meaning "city of Persians",[3] was the ceremonial capital of the Achaemenid Empire (ca. 550–330 BC).
The earliest remains of Persepolis date from around 515 BC.
It exemplifies the Achaemenid style of architecture. UNESCO declared the citadel of Persepolis a World Heritage Site in 1979.[4]
The Gate of all Nations, referring to subjects of the empire, consisted of a grand hall that was a square of approximately 25 metres (82 ft) in length, with four columns and its entrance on the Western Wall.
A pair of Lamassus, bulls with the heads of bearded men, stand by the western threshold. Another pair, with wings and a Persian head (Gopät-Shäh), stands by the eastern entrance, to reflect the Empire’s power.
