It has pure white, funnel-shaped flowers up to 6 cm across. It's a climbing plant (vine) that twines clockwise around fences, bushes, and other plants – it can easily climb 2-3 meters high. The leaves are arrow-shaped to heart-shaped and a deep green. The flowers open in the morning and close in rain or darkness – however, on bright moonlit nights they sometimes remain open, attracting moths!

Elle possède des fleurs d'un blanc pur, en forme d'entonnoir, pouvant atteindre 6 cm de diamètre. C'est une plante grimpante qui s'enroule dans le sens des aiguilles d'une montre autour des clôtures, des buissons et autres plantes – elle peut facilement grimper jusqu'à 2 ou 3 mètres de hauteur. Ses feuilles, d'un vert foncé, sont en forme de flèche ou de cœur. Les fleurs s'ouvrent le matin et se referment à la pluie ou à la nuit tombée – cependant, par les nuits de pleine lune, elles restent parfois ouvertes, attirant les papillons de nuit !

Sie sind ja winzige Spinnenund nur ca 4-5mm groß,was ich anfangs gar nicht so genau sehen konnte,dass er sich da eine Raupe geholt hat,aber er war neugierig auf ein Fotoshooting und ich konnte einige Bilder machen :))

They are tiny spiders, only about 4-5mm long, which I couldn't quite see at first, that he had gotten himself a caterpillar, but he was curious about a photo shoot and I was able to take some pictures :))

Ce sont de minuscules araignées, d'à peine 4 à 5 mm de long. Je n'avais pas tout de suite remarqué qu'il avait attrapé une chenille, mais il était curieux de se faire photographier et j'ai pu prendre quelques clichés :))

Seine Flügelspannweite ist ca. 28 bis 32 mm (relativ kleiner Schmetterling),er hat ein warmes Rostbraun bis Orange. Auf den Oberseiten der Flügel befinden sich hellere, gelbliche Flecken. Männchen haben zudem einen dunkelbraunen, strichförmigen Duftschuppenfleck auf den Vorderflügeln.Ein auffallend breiter, „pelziger“ Kopf mit weit auseinanderstehenden Augen sowie Fühler mit charakteristisch gebogenen Spitzen.Man entdeckt ihn von Mai bis August und er saugt Nektar von verschiedenen Blüten :))

Son envergure est d'environ 28 à 32 mm (un papillon relativement petit), et sa coloration varie du brun rouille à l'orange. Des taches jaunâtres plus claires sont présentes sur le dessus des ailes. Les mâles possèdent également une tache odorante linéaire brun foncé sur les ailes antérieures. Sa tête, large et duveteuse, est remarquable, avec des yeux bien écartés et des antennes aux extrémités caractéristiques recourbées. On peut l'observer de mai à août ; il se nourrit du nectar de diverses fleurs. :))

The stonefly's lifestyle is closely tied to water. While the adults live on land, the larvae (nymphs) spend their often multi-year development period entirely underwater. There, they preferentially cling to stones at the bottom of streams and rivers. Stonefly larvae are extremely sensitive to water pollution and low oxygen levels. Finding them in a stream is an excellent bioindicator of very high water quality. The lifespan of the adult, flying stonefly is very short, often lasting only a few days to a few weeks.

Les plécoptères se rencontrent principalement dans les eaux courantes, propres et riches en oxygène. Au repos, leurs ailes membraneuses sont aplaties et repliées sur leur dos. Auf der Landesgartenausstellung 2026 in Ellwangen wurde im Kreuzgang der Ellwanger Basilika St. Vitus dieses originelle Blumengesteck mit frischen Pflanzen gezeigt, das mich sehr beeindruckt hat. Die wechselnden Blumenschauen des Fachverbands Deutscher Floristen in St. Vitus waren ein Highlight der Landesgartenschau. Zum Foto: Ich habe die Umgebung des Gestecks entfernt, um die Wirkung zu verbessern.

At the 2026 State Garden Show in Ellwangen, this original flower arrangement made with fresh plants was displayed in the cloister of St Vitus Basilica in Ellwangen, and it made a great impression on me. The changing floral displays organised by the Professional Association of German Florists at St Vitus were a highlight of the State Garden Show. About the photo: I have cropped out the background around the arrangement to enhance the effect.

Les ailes sont généralement jaune paille, beige ou brun clair, souvent striées de fines rayures longitudinales plus foncées. Cette coloration leur assure un camouflage parfait parmi les brins d'herbe sèche ! Leur envergure est d'environ 30 à 38 mm. Crépusculaires et nocturnes, elles restent parfaitement camouflées dans la végétation durant la journée. On les trouve dans les prairies humides et sèches, en bord de route, dans les pâturages et les prairies herbeuses. Elles se nourrissent du nectar des fleurs. :))

Dieser recht große, auffällig gefärbte Tagfalter kann im Juli in Wiesen beobachtet werden. Es ist der Kleine Perlmuttfalter (Issoria lathonia), dessen Raupe sich von Acker-Stiefmütterchen ernährt. Er ist (noch) nicht gefährdet.

This fairly large, strikingly coloured butterfly can be seen in meadows in July. It is the Queen of Spain fritillary (Issoria lathonia), whose caterpillar feeds on field pansies. It is not (yet) endangered.
