Replacing the Cape St George lighthouse , this one (at right) was erected in 1898 and first lit on 1 May 1899. It operated until January 1994, when it was replaced by the new solar powered LED light at left (and the site was de-manned - lighthouse keeper's house at right). The old light apparently is still lit for an annual Lighthouse Weekend in August of most years. As can be seen in the background, this is clearly at the entrance to Jervis Bay. View large. A fishing boat waits for recovery by tractor and trailer during low tide at Port Logan, in the Rhins of Galloway! Scotland.

It is on the western side of the Rhins peninsula, about 12 miles (19 km) south of Stranraer and 7 miles (11 km) north of the Mull of Galloway.

Die zweite neue HADAG-Fähre vom Typ 2030, die mir bei unserem HH-Treffen vor die Linse gekommen ist, ist die "Grasbrook". Es ist die dritte der neuen Fähren, welche am 23. September 2024 Stapellauf hatte und 2025 in Dienst gestellt wurde. Hier im Bild fährt das Schiff gerade auf der Linie 62.

HADAG-Typ 2030 ist eine Baureihe von bisher drei Hafenfähren der Hamburger Reederei HADAG Seetouristik und Fährdienst AG (HADAG). Es handelt sich um eine weiterentwickelte Nachfolgeserie des Typs 2020. Die Fähren verkehren im Liniendienst im Hamburger Hafen. Gebaut wurden die Schiffe auf der Werft SET Schiffbau- u. Entwicklungsgesellschaft Tangermünde. Sie sind eine Eigenentwicklung der HADAG und wie schon die Vorgänger Typ 2020 und Typ 2000 für den Einmannbetrieb konzipiert, d. h. neben dem Schiffsführer wird kein weiteres Bordpersonal benötigt. Die Schiffe verfügen über einen Plug-in-Hybrid-Antrieb mit zwei Elektromotoren. Diese treiben jeweils einen Voith-Schneider-Propeller an. Energiespeicher sind Akkumulatoren, die nachts aufgeladen werden. Diese werden bei Bedarf durch einen Diesel-Range-Extender aufgeladen. Die Schiffe waren vorbereitet, zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt für eine Energieerzeugung an Bord durch einen Wasserstoffmotor umrüstbar zu sein. Inzwischen wurde erklärt, durch leistungsstärkere Batterien darauf verzichten zu können.
Die Fähre "Neuland" mit der Werbegestaltung von ONE wurde 2024 in Dienst gestellt und hatte am 06. März 2024 Stapellauf.

On the only gloomy day in April, we visited the largest ship graveyard in mainland Britain. Over several years in the last century, around 86 vessels were deliberately grounded to reinforce the bank of the river Severn at Purton.

Most of the wooden boats have decayed away through natural weathering, though many were partly dismantled shortly after grounding by local people for use as construction materials and firewood. The best preserved are the vessels made of ferroconcrete.

The Bell Tower also called the Port Logan Lighthouse or Telford's Bell Tower is the most distinctive landmark in the small harbour, It served primarily as a daymark and bell tower to guide fishing boats safely into the harbour in poor visibility or bad weather — the bell would be rung to signal position or warn of hazards.
The Irish Sea, form the waters beyond they in turn are a part of the North Channel!
