One the many feeding in the salt flats near Walvis Bay. This one is not particularly pink, unlike others. Thought that just ONE bird might be enough.

In Namibia, during our 2018 world cruise.

The saltworks. The shallow ponds that surround this area cause the slow drying of the sea and the creation of the salt crystals. Those are gathered up and become these white piles. The salt is then taken out of Namibia by the ships in port that are shown in another photo.

Fortunately, I had my telephoto lens, and could capture this image of a rock climber, working his way up the sheer rock wall of the Devils Tower.

The PiP is a more general view of the base of the Tower.

This "pirate ship" party boat came very close to our cabin on the cruise ship. The noise was deafening. This shot of the party-goers was made possible by the high-ISO capabilities of the Panasonic Lumix GX-85.

It is amazing how much more the camera sensor can pick up than the naked eye. This is my first time seeing the lights at this latitude, 49th parallel. I used to live further north and could see them regularly. The solar flare certainly extended the range for more people to witness them.

We had excellent weather in southern Missouri for the eclipse on 8 April, 2024.

Our previous experience was in 2017, and while the photos were wonderful, I never got a shot at the "diamond ring" effect that year.

This, and a few others, were taken at the end of totality this April.

The large flare at the very bottom of the disk was seen in a number of our photos.

Hand-held at 280mm equivalent zoom, and processed with GIMP. This was the same camera-lens I used in 2017 (nearly the same settings, too.)

"New Beginnings" in this case means a new lens. This is a fixed 30mm macro lens. I did a lot of testing after it arrived. (For my Micro 4/3s setup, the lens is equivalent is 60mm on a full frame).

This is a particular test of the macro capability. F22 seemed to make a very sharp image.

Open door Sunday Challenge. This "office" was a small building in one of the locks of the Panama Canal.

This 2018 transit was yet another Canal one for us (10 so far?), and it was made more interesting by torrential rains.
