The Sukhothai Historical Park is one of Thailand's most impressive UNESCO World Heritage Sites. It encompasses the ruins of what was once the opulent Sukhothai Kingdom of the 13th and 14th centuries, recognized as the capital of the first Kingdom of Siam.
It has a number of fine monuments, illustrating the beginnings of Thai architecture.

Audie Blaylock's band's a bit less stable than most bluegrass bands, but the version he brought to the Charlotte, Michigan, festival in 2013 was immensely talented.

Banjo: Russ Carson, now with Ricky Skaggs.

Fiddle: Patrick McAvinue, now with Dailey and Vincent; also with Charm City Junction. 2017 IBMA fiddler of the year.

Bass: Jason Moore, now with Sideline, previously with Mountain Heart.

Guitar: Audie Blaylock, previously with Jimmy Martin and Rhonda Vincent. And other bands.

Mandolin: Jesse Brock, now with Fast Track; formerly with Michael Cleveland, later with the Gibson Brothers. Twice IBMA mando player of the year.

Colonial Michilimackinac, in Mackinaw City, Michigan. Michilimackinac is a state park, a reconstructed French colonial trading post on the Straits of Mackinac.

And yeah, that's basically three ways to spell a single name. It's at the very top of Michigan's mitten.

For a few months now Denpasar has had a great, monumental symbol, the Titi Banda statue.
The construction of this statue was an innovation in embellishing the cityscape of Denpasar. The statue tells stories from the Ramayana epic, namely the story of Rama, in which he defeated the "Titi Banda Bridge" in the middle of the world with the help of a group of monkeys to get to his beloved Sita.
The colored lighting is not an exaggeration, the blue glow seems almost kitsch for the western opinion.

Yeah, spelling Mackinac can be confusing. So can the pronunciation: Say Mackinaw.

We originally bought a matched pair of Forerunners (model 305, I think) to use as cyclometers (bicycle speedometers) 'round 'bout 2009. I'd been using a different fitness watch for a few years, but a system update on my computer had rendered it obsolete. So we bought these.

They were fine for bicycling; we'd mount them on the handlebars. We'd also wear them when, like here, we were deliberately exercising. But for general use they were pretty ugly. They were excellent exercise watches, though.

Nowadays we own a matched pair of Garmin's Vivosmart HR+ watches. Joan wears hers as her main watch, while I mostly wear my Galaxy Active2. The Active 2's a decent watch, but (despite its name) a horrible activity tracker. So if I'm counting steps, or miles, or elevation changes ("stairs"), the Garmin's on my other wrist.
