Die Flügeloberseiten sind warm rostbraun bis orange-braun gefärbt mit dunklerem Rand und verwaschenen, helleren Flecken.Männchen haben auf den Vorderflügeln einen deutlich sichtbaren, dunklen, schrägen Duftschuppenstreifen.Die Flügelunterseite ist gelblich-grünlich überhaucht mit verblassten, hellgelben Flecken.Wie bei vielen Dickkopffaltern klappt er in Ruhe die Vorderflügel dachartig leicht schräg nach oben, während die Hinterflügel waagerechter abgespreizt bleiben.Er hat einen breiten Kopf mit weit auseinanderstehenden, am Ende hakenförmig gebogenen Fühlern.Man sieht ihn von Juni bis August :))

The upper sides of the wings are a warm rust-brown to orange-brown with a darker border and indistinct, lighter spots. Males have a clearly visible, dark, oblique scent stripe on their forewings. The underside of the wings has a yellowish-green tinge with faded, pale yellow spots. As with many skippers, when at rest it folds its forewings roof-like, slightly obliquely upwards, while the hindwings remain spread more horizontally. It has a broad head with widely spaced antennae that are hooked at the ends. It can be seen from June to August :))

Le dessus des ailes est d'un brun rouille chaud à brun orangé, bordé d'une bordure plus foncée et parsemé de taches claires et indistinctes. Le mâle présente une bande odorante oblique, foncée et bien visible sur ses ailes antérieures. Le dessous des ailes est teinté de jaune-vert et parsemé de taches jaune pâle délavées. Comme chez de nombreux hespéries, au repos, il replie ses ailes antérieures en forme de toit, légèrement obliquement vers le haut, tandis que les ailes postérieures restent déployées plus horizontalement. Sa tête est large et ses antennes, largement espacées, sont recourbées à leur extrémité. On peut l'observer de juin à août :))

Viel zu sehen gibt es an der Bergstation der Karwendelbahn. Auf 2.244 Metern Seehöhe genießt man den Blick hinab ins Isartal auf den Mittenwald, nach Krün und Wallgau, auf die Zugspitze mit dem Wettersteingebirge, auf das Alpenvorland und kleine Bergseen. Deutschlands höchstgelegenes Naturinformationszentrum, die „Bergwelt Karwendel", befindet sich direkt neben der Bergstation und ist ein Zeichen für nachhaltiges Engagement in sensibler Natur.

As the name suggests, the abdomen is strikingly long and slender. The hoverfly is yellow and black striped – it mimics the appearance of wasps to deter predators (such as birds), but is completely harmless and has no stinger! In males, the abdomen often protrudes well beyond the closed wings! Adult hoverflies feed on nectar and pollen and are important pollinators in gardens and the wild; they are usually active from spring to autumn :))

Comme son nom l'indique, l'abdomen de la syrphe est remarquablement long et fin. Rayée de jaune et de noir, elle imite l'apparence des guêpes pour dissuader les prédateurs (comme les oiseaux), mais elle est totalement inoffensive et dépourvue de dard ! Chez les mâles, l'abdomen dépasse souvent largement des ailes repliées ! Les syrphes adultes se nourrissent de nectar et de pollen et sont d'importants pollinisateurs dans les jardins et la nature ; elles sont généralement actives du printemps à l'automne.

When I took this photo on 27 November 2010, I was looking up into the trees and had only a camera and telescopic zoom lens. I had none of the special lighting equipment and so even after digitally brightening the image, the photo remained less than desirable. Now with AI and asking it to change the back lighting to front lighting, this photo has been rehabilitated as if I had the special equipment in the first place. :)

I also had AI remove the branch in front of the owl's face.

Les guêpes adultes sont généralement de couleur sombre/noire. Elles présentent des taches rougeâtres à brun rougeâtre sur les segments de leur abdomen (ou thorax), ce qui leur vaut leur nom. La tache rougeâtre à brun rougeâtre caractéristique située directement sur leur dos contraste fortement avec le reste de leur corps sombre. Elles possèdent de grands yeux composés foncés et des antennes en forme de scie ou d'éventail. On peut les observer d'avril à juin environ ; elles ne sont pas très grandes, comme vous pouvez le constater sur l'avant-dernière photo :))

This pretty dragonfly landed in front of me when I wanted to photograph an insect with my macro lens and stayed perfectly still! The males are azure blue with black markings. The key distinguishing feature is the marking on the second abdominal segment: besides a U-shaped or pointed figure, there are two small lines on the sides. The females are usually greenish to yellowish-green or matte blue with a continuous dark marking on the upper side of the abdomen. They are about 31–33 mm long and with a wingspan of about 3.5 to 4.5 cm, they belong to the smaller to medium-sized damselflies. They can be seen from May to July/August :))

Cette jolie libellule s'est posée devant moi alors que je voulais photographier un insecte avec mon objectif macro et elle est restée parfaitement immobile ! Les mâles sont bleu azur avec des marques noires. Leur principal signe distinctif est la marque sur le deuxième segment abdominal : outre une forme en U ou pointue, on observe deux petites lignes sur les côtés. Les femelles sont généralement verdâtres à vert jaunâtre ou bleu mat avec une marque sombre continue sur la partie supérieure de l'abdomen. Elles mesurent environ 31 à 33 mm de long et ont une envergure d'environ 3,5 à 4,5 cm ; elles font partie des demoiselles de petite à moyenne taille. On peut les observer de mai à juillet/août :))

I rediscovered this beautiful snail shell in nature; a snail is even peeking out from behind it. However, I only wanted the shell as the main subject and opted for a black and white look with a warm high-key effect, which I really liked :))

J'ai redécouvert cette magnifique coquille d'escargot dans la nature ; un escargot se cache même derrière. Cependant, je souhaitais que seule la coquille soit le sujet principal et j'ai opté pour un rendu en noir et blanc avec un effet de lumière chaude, que j'aime beaucoup :))

These butterflies stayed in this spot on the flowers for a very long time, among the blue butterflies. They kept moving from one place to the next, and I was always able to quickly track them with my camera. I only took more photos when they were even slightly still, and that's how this series came about :))

Ces papillons sont restés longtemps au même endroit sur les fleurs, parmi les papillons bleus. Ils se déplaçaient sans cesse, et je pouvais toujours les suivre rapidement avec mon appareil photo. Je ne prenais d'autres photos que lorsqu'ils étaient un tant soit peu immobiles, et c'est ainsi qu'est née cette série :))

Ich habe diesen Käfer auch erst das erstemal entdeckt,er ist ca 5,5 bis 8,5 mm groß und man sieht ihn von Mai bis September,er ist sehr gerne in Laub- und Mischwäldern unterwegs.Der Kopf ist außergewöhnlich breit gebaut und scharf gegen den restlichen Körper abgegrentzt,grundsätzlich schwarz, wirkt durch die eng anliegende, feine Behaarung aber oft graubraun mit hellem Fleckenmuster.Bei den Stachelkäfern ist das Hinterleibsende spitz verlängert, bei dieser Art jedoch im Vergleich zu verwandten Arten eher kurz und hinten leicht abgestumpft.Seine Körperform ist keil- bzw. buckelförmig gebogen.Sie sind sehr flink und agile Krabbler :))

I also just discovered this beetle for the first time; it's about 5.5 to 8.5 mm long and can be seen from May to September. It prefers deciduous and mixed forests. The head is exceptionally broad and sharply defined against the rest of the body. It's generally black, but due to the close-lying, fine hairs, it often appears grayish-brown with a light spotted pattern. In spiny beetles, the end of the abdomen is elongated to a point, but in this species, it's rather short compared to related species and slightly blunt at the rear. Its body shape is wedge-shaped or humped. They are very quick and agile crawlers :))

Je viens moi aussi de découvrir ce coléoptère pour la première fois ; il mesure environ 5,5 à 8,5 mm de long et on peut l'observer de mai à septembre. Il affectionne les forêts de feuillus et les forêts mixtes. Sa tête est exceptionnellement large et bien délimitée par rapport au reste du corps. Généralement noir, il apparaît souvent gris-brun clair tacheté en raison de ses fins poils denses. Chez les coléoptères épineux, l'extrémité de l'abdomen est pointue, mais chez cette espèce, elle est plutôt courte comparée à celle des espèces apparentées et légèrement arrondie à l'arrière. Son corps est cunéiforme ou bossu. C'est un rampant très rapide et agile ! :))
