Several times - mostly in the wake of wars - Saxony gained and lost large amounts of territory and population. After a failed rebellion against the German emperor, its rulers even had to accept the expropriation and division of their realm, but centuries later they also wore the Polish royal crown alongside the Saxon crown for a time. At the end of the 19th century, the labour movement and German social democracy had one of their strongholds in the country's industrial centres. Die Anlage wurde vor kurzer Zeit restauriert.
