Last in this series of Scirocco images is this silver Scala and it's probably one of the cleanest examples I saw on show that year ... aside from my own of course!

And it's the last to be added to the VW North West 2011 album.

From 1992, the last year of Mk2 Scirocco production, comes this ultra clean and subtly modified Scala.

At the time the car belonged to a fellow member of the Scirocco Register.

He lived in the Aberdeen area, but would think nothing of travelling down South in it to attend car shows or even local meets in England often clocking up several hundred miles per trip.

Close up shot of the engine in yet another red Scirocco.

This one according to the records is a GT, but the badge it carried on the B-pillars clearly showed it to be a GTII.

Almost time to finish of this album I think, so let's go out with some examples of my favourite VW, the Mk2 Scirocco ... starting with this Scala from 1990.

It had a few dings here and there like the almost ubiquitous chips on the bonnet's leading edge, but overall it was pretty neat for a car that at the time I took this shot was getting on for being 20 years old.

Thought I'd upload a shot of Lily, my old Scirocco to celebrate the fact that, as of yesterday, she's now officially back on the road for the summer season.

This shot wasn't taken this year though, instead it was one of a series I did when she was last out back in September 2014 prior to going off the road for the winter.

I had so much fun with this week's Sunday Challenge, which had the theme of selective colouring, that I ended up with several possibles.

Here's another of those that didn't get used. This one is a shot I took of my Mk2 Scirocco after attending a show at Raby Castle, County Durham.

The selective colouring here is very subtle so you might need to look for it ... the building in the background was on the outer edge of the castle grounds so I'm guessing it's some kind of old gatehouse.

Those who have been following my photostream for a while will know I have an old Mk2 Scirocco and have been helped out on many an occasion as have others with a similar interest, by a lovely guy called Ian Croucher - ianaudia4 on the forums.

Well I'm sorry to say I've just learned in the last few days that Ian has passed away and so I've produced this triptych in honour of a great man who will be sadly missed.

When I first joined the Scirocco Register Ian was one of the first people to welcome me on board and I was lucky enough to spend time with him at a few shows, not to mention the North-East mini-meets he used to organise whenever he was around.

He was without doubt one of the friendliest and most helpful guys I've met in my time on the Register. Back then I was still trying to restore my first Scirocco and Ian was always willing to offer advice and/or a willing pair of hands.

I can still remember when he came down to my workshop along with Tony and Stu, also from the Scirocco Register, to take out the engine ... something I'd never have been able to do on my own.

However, Ian wasn't just a nice guy and willing pair of hands, he was also a walking encyclopaedia of all things Scirocco and great at helping you strike a bargain at shows for any much needed parts.

He was simply a great, great man and my condolences go out to his partner Chamila, his family and to all those that had the pleasure of calling him a friend.

Must say I've never understood why they used a sticker to carry the Storm identity as opposed to a proper badge especially when the car was a limited production model.

I've described this as being pretty much a local show with most of the cars being from the surrounding area.

Colin, on the other hand, who owns this Scala comes from Aberdeen and will often travel 400 miles plus to attend a show ... hence all the bugs on the bumper!
