The subway under the Munich city ring, again. In part, the escalators have been transformed to etageres for plants. I wonder if they are part of the artistic concept.

In Icking erinnert wenig mehr an den Lechnerhof: einige dekorative Elemente sind in der inzwischen geschlossenen Wirtschaft “Stephanie” am Isarweg verbaut worden, und es geht noch immer eine Treppe vom Lechnergelände zum S-Bahnhof, die manche, denen die Wenzbergschleife oder die Treppe am Rathaus zu weit ist, als Abkürzung nehmen.

We’ve walked these steps many times, when we went to the hotel (in the background) for dinner. The hotel has been sold, last year, and there are no visitors anymore.

Mauern - Entrance to the Church Yard

“Day of the Open Monument”: everywhere doors opened which are normally closed.

We visited the church of Mauern to view a crucifix from around 900 AD. I’m no art historian, but I doubt if the large cross in the Mauern church was much older than 1900 AD. Looking again at our papers, we saw our stop should have been Enghausen, a part of Mauern, and a few miles away...
We left Mauern with this photo, and no regret.
