Wandmalereien (Trompe L'Œil) in Lyon
Sie sind eine echte Besonderheit und mittlerweile schon eine Tradition in Lyon: Überall in der Stadt findet man die bemalten Hauswände.
Oft sind es große Fassaden, die komplett bemalt sind, sei es mit Fresken oder einem Trompe L'Œil (einem täuschend echt wirkenden Bild). Dadurch sind nicht nur die grauen Fassaden aus Lyon verschwunden, sondern es gibt mittlerweile unzählige große öffentliche Kunstwerke zum Anschauen. Sozusagen eine Art Mega-Streetart.

Gestaltet wurden die Wandbilder von der Künstlergruppe Cité Creation, die 1978 in Lyon entstanden ist. Nach und nach bemalten sie immer mehr Fassaden der Stadt und werteten so Häuser und ganze Viertel auf. Heute bemalt die Künstlergruppe überall auf der Welt Fassaden, insgesamt sind es bisher 600 Stück.

Ursprung des Namens
Die Straße verdankt ihren heutigen Namen der Claudius-Tafel, einer Bronzetafel mit einer Rede Kaiser Claudius' vor dem römischen Senat aus dem Jahr 48 n. Chr . Zwei Fragmente dieser Tafel wurden 1528 auf einem Grundstück am Hügel Saint-Sébastien (an den Hängen des Croix-Rousse, nahe der heutigen Straße) gefunden. Geschichte
Die Straße wurde in mehreren Etappen gebaut, einige Abschnitte der Straße trugen ursprünglich nicht den Namen Tables-Claudiennes.

Das Gebiet westlich des Hügels Saint-Sébastien war zu Beginn des 19. Jahrhunderts ein Weinberg namens „ Clos des Oratoriens “ , der dem Mechaniker Jean-Antoine Breton, einem Pionier des Jacquardwebstuhls , gehörte . Die Hänge wurden damals hauptsächlich für den Gemüseanbau und Weinbau genutzt, doch der Aufstieg der Seidenindustrie in Lyon veränderte und urbanisierte diesen Teil des Viertels Croix-Rousse. Einen Teil dieses Weinberglandes erwarben 1821 die Gebrüder Donzel von Breton und errichteten die Rue Imbert-Colomès und die Rue des Tables-Claudiennes, die senkrecht zum Hügel Saint-Sébastien verlaufen, sowie die Rue Chappet , die ebenfalls senkrecht zu diesem verläuft .

Rue des Tables Claudiennes Haus-Nr. 55 sind 'Traboules' das sind historische
Fußgängerpassagen und versteckte Geheimgänge, die durch Hausflure, Innenhöfe und Treppenhäuser führen. Sie verbinden parallele Straßen miteinander und sind vor allem in der französischen Stadt Lyon berühmt.

Herkunft und Zweck
Abkürzung: Sie erlauben es, Wege in der Stadt schnell abzukürzen.Seidenweber: Früher halfen sie den Seidenwebern (Canuts) in den Vierteln Vieux-Lyon und Croix-Rousse, empfindliche Stoffe bei Regen trocken zu transportieren.
Geschichte: Viele Gänge dienten im 19. Jahrhundert auch als Schutz oder Unterschlupf bei Arbeiteraufständen.
Wichtige FaktenAnzahl: Es gibt hunderte Traboules in Lyon, aber nur etwa 40 bis 50 sind frei zugänglich.
Berühmte Orte: Bekannte Beispiele sind der Cour des voraces in Croix-Rousse oder der Durchgang von der Rue Saint-Jean zur Rue du Bœuf in Vieux-Lyon.

In Vieux Lyon, der Altstadt von Lyon, finden sich noch viele Traboules, gassenartige Hausdurchgänge. Sie dienten als Abkürzungen zwischen den Straßen, ermöglichten den Seidenwebern aber auch, ihre kostbare Ware trocken durch die Stadt zu transportieren. Eine der heimeligsten Traboules führt über sechs Innenhöfe von der Rue Saint-Jean 54 zu Haus Nr. 27 in der parallelen Rue du Boeuf. Wie die meisten der insgesamt 230 Traboules von Lyon ist auch diese zwar privat, steht jedoch tagsüber offen. Ein Circuit des Traboules, der vom Office de Tourisme ausgewiesen ist, führt als Rundgang durch zahlreiche weitere dieser Durchgänge (ADAC)

Another piece of skull-themed street art, which I found painted on a door panel of a closed up shop in Portsmouth. It's obviously been there for some time.

This one seems to be a cross between a snail and a skull.

A "Snull" perhaps, or maybe a "skail" ?

I think it looks better large, the artist is very talented.
