Der Río Bío Bío, auch Biobío, ist der zweitlängste Fluss in Chile. Er ist 380 Kilometer lang.

Er verläuft etwa 500 Kilometer südlich von Santiago de Chile. Er entspringt dem Galletue-See in den Anden. Er fließt bei San Pedro de la Paz in den Golf von Arauco.

Auf den ersten Kilometern, wo er auch das Wasser des Río Rucanuco, des Ausflusses des Icalma-Sees, aufnimmt, fließt der Río Bío Bío nach Osten hin zum Hauptkamm der Anden. Bald ändert sich der Flusslauf nach Norden. Im Mittellauf wechselt der Verlauf mehr nach Nordwesten der Mündung in den Pazifik zu.

Efeublättriges Alpenveilchen
Cyclamen hederifolium ist eine Pflanzenart aus der Gattung Alpenveilchen (Cyclamen). Als Trivialnamen werden Efeublättriges Alpenveilchen, Herbst-Alpenveilchen, Neapolitanisches Alpenveilchen, Neapolitaner Erdscheibe verwendet. Sie ist im nördlichen Mittelmeerraum verbreitet.
Erst nach dem Erscheinen der Blüten im August oder September entwickeln sich die Laubblätter. Die Blätter überwintern und bilden bis zum späten Frühjahr eine grundständige Blattrosette und beim Auftreten in kleinen Gruppen einen grünen Blattteppich. Die Blattform des Cyclamen hederifolium ähnelt zum Teil denen des Efeus.

I know that I've posted quite a few photos of this slot canyon, but my fascination with such places has me looking again through my photos and that has led to a couple more posts, this one showing the colors and textures of the rock in a shallower part of the canyon.
The canyon is in Utah, east of Zion National Park and our hike there last spring was a rather difficult hike of six miles through deep sand. The hike was worthwhile, though, a hike I would do again, and the canyon spectacular as the photo shows.

Casa Vicens, one of Gaudi’s earliest designs, in Barcelona. I was entranced by its complexity and form, and by the imaginative exterior decoration. An older photo of mine, but one which resonates with me still.

This old eucalyptus tree is over 200 years old. Long ago, Aboriginal people carved a large (2-3M) section of bark from it to make a canoe. It is one of the few such trees used for this purpose still surviving and hence the fence to indicate its significance and to give some protection. There is a sign giving details (shown in PiP).
