Spotted at Convento de Aracoelli Street, Alcácer do Sal, near Alcácer do Sal Pousada, it was brought by a couple of motorbikers who stayed at the pousada. This is one of a limited production of 177, which includes several details in gold on the fuel tank.

This was parked in front of a muffler shop. Presumably, this needs more than a new muffler. ;-p When I was two years old, this was a new pickup! It has a lot of big holes drilled around the walls of the bed and around the grille. Would that be to reduce the weight? I've never seen anything like that.

Regarding the image; In order to "fudge" the crowding at the front of the truck's image, I added some stuff for breathing space. This is an example of the difficulty I have taking pictures with poor eyesight,now. I didn't see that the image wasn't properly in the frame. So, I could go back and do it again tomorrow, or just add something called a mirror frame and call it a day. ;-)

This was probably in Long Beach, California, around 1915-1916. My late dad and one of my brothers look very much like him. I have no doubt that the car was a Ford.

Alice Putnam and her boys. A third one came later. This is Long Beach, California. About two years after this photo, the family moved to Ashland, Oregon. Grandpa had worked as a stevedore and had been injured on the Long Beach docks. Fed up with the physical punishment of dock work - he was a slight man - he built a sort of camper van out of the Ford Model something-or-other and they struck out for homesteading prospects up north. There was terrible, hungry hardship for quite a few years. I don't think my grandmother had many happy times after that. For as long as I can remember, she talked longingly about southern California.

Grandpa eventually built a logging company and was very prosperous. His three sons worked with him and all continued that work after he died in 1952. Grandpa was only 57 when he died and was my favorite person in the world.

Interagency Hotshot Crews are elite firefighting teams used in the hottest sections of the most difficult fires. IHC trucks from Oregon Fish and Game were also parked here at a Klamath Falls hotel. I saw some of them walking into the hotel, filthy and exhausted, no doubt ready for a shower, dinner and a beer.

"The primary mission of IHCs is to provide a safe, professional, mobile and highly skilled hand crew for all phases of fire management and incident operations. IHCs are staffed, conditioned, equipped and qualified to meet a variety of strategic and tactical wildland fire assignments.
