A veces, la fotografía no es lo que buscas, sino lo que te encuentra.

Una mañana en la duna fósil, entre el silencio y el viento, el sol dibujó lo que yo no había planeado: mi sombra, larga y persistente, y un caminante que avanzaba hacia lo desconocido. No eran los filtros ni el trípode los que crearon esta imagen, sino el giro inesperado, el instante en que dejé de mirar a través del visor.

Y tal vez, sin querer, la luz guardaba el eco de un preset que, como un viejo carrete, me recordó que a veces lo digital también puede oler a película.

1897m high Cerro Pantojo seen from Paso Samore on the Argentinean/ Chilean border. Cerro Pantojo is the basaltic plug of an eroded pleistocene stratovolcano.

Der Lonquimay ist ein aktiver Vulkan zwischen den Nationalen Schutzgebieten Reserva Nacional Malalcahuello und Reserva Nacional Nalcas im Nordosten Araukaniens in Chile. Er ist 2865 m hoch.

Während der letzten Eruption, die am 25. Dezember 1988 begann und zwei Jahre andauerte, bildete sich der sogenannte Weihnachtskrater (Crater Navidad) nordöstlich des Hauptkraters.

Nahe dem Vulkan Lonquimay (PiP 1) in der Araucania. Das PiP 2 zeigt den Vulkan Callaqui am Horizont. Beide PiPs können angeklickt werden, worum ich herzlich bitte.

Auch das untere PiP kann angeklickt werden Es führt zu einem Panorama an gleicher Stelle mit Aufnahmen aus 2017 und noch mehr Infos.

Nevado Sajama (6542m) is Bolivia's highest mountain and one of the world's highest volcanoes. Situated in the centre of Sajama National Park it has Queñoa de Altura (polylepis tarapacana) growing on its slopes. This shrublike tree grows in heights of up to 5000m.
Sajama is a holy mountain for the indigenous Aymara people and recent research has found a 3000 years old network of lines etched into the ground which is 15 times the size of the Nazca lines. Sajama Lines

The outflow at the hot springs is covered with colourful heat loving algae, the white stuff is salt. In the background over Salar de Chalviri salt is whirled up by the wind.

Auf diesem Rückflug nach Deutschland hatte ich einen super Fensterplatz im Flieger und natürlich auch meinen Fotorucksack mit dabei. Die Insel war wolkenfrei und somit musste die Kamera an die Fensterscheibe gehalten werden.

Just 48 hours after it started, we managed to see the new eruption site at Meradalir. The weather sadly deteriorated and fog and rain clouds rolled in. At least I managed a few shots from the site where one of the webcams stands (which all too often only shows grey pea soup):

We did the "easy" path via Langihryggur which was also the safest for gas pollution as the wind was blowing the fumes in the other direction.The black lava fields in the photo are from last year's eruption, in many places there's still hot lava underneath!

Guallatiri (6071m) ist nach Ojos del Salado (6883m) und Llullaillaco (6739m) der dritthöchste aktive Vulkan weltweit. Alle drei sind Teil des Anden-Hauptkamms. Die beiden letzteren liegen auf der Grenze zwischen Chile und Argentinien, Guallatiri ganz im Norden Chiles nahe der Grenze zu Bolivien. Der Stratovulkan ist von einem schrumpfenden Gletscher bedeckt und hat aktive Fumarolen. Im ersten PiP ist deutlich ein alter Lavafluss zu erkennen.

The Inuit word Qeqertarsuaq means "big island" and is used for both Disko Island and the settlement on its south coast.

Disko Island is famous for its geology: on top of cretaceous volcanic and sedimentary rock there are tertiary basalts (see notes for a closer look at the layers) and the northern part of the island is one of the very few places where native iron can be found.
Apart from the geology there is also a surprisingly lush tundra vegetation usually only found in southern Greenland.

Grjótagjá is a lava cave with thermally heated water in the rift zone near Mývatn where the Eurasian and American plates drift apart.

In the 18th century outlaw Jón Markússon used it as a refuge, later locals and tourists bathed in it until the water got too hot during the Krafla Fires (1975-84). After the end of the eruptions the temperature slowly cooled again, but remains unpredictable.

Grjótagjá (Jon Snow's cave) shot to fame with GoT, attracting masses of visitors and vandalism. The private landowners were forced to prohibit bathing in both Grjótagjá and neighbouring Kvennagjá.

Der Montana Roja, der hier hinter dem Strand von El Médano zu sehen ist, grüßt die Touristen, die in Teneriffa-Süd landen. 171 Meter hoch ist der markante ehemalige Vulkan direkt an der Küste und lässt sich mühelos erklimmen. Der Strand von El Médano ist als Bade- und Surferstrand sehr beliebt.
