Our main picture shows a rare Class 109 diesel multiple unit railcar just pulling in with a group of Welsh tourist board officials. Taken out of service in 1967 it now remains part of the heritage stock of The Llangollen Railway. We see to the left the chain bridge.

The PiP (last photo) collage shows two more views of the Class 109 besides an internal view of the station plus a look roadside. I believe the main living quarters (mock Tudor house) here was the station masters home, of which he paid rent for but now the house is a self contained holiday cottage.
This welcome seat just below the hilltop castle of Dinas Bran enjoys great views. How long it has been here, who knows? A nice cool breeze is to be had here to cool us down after the climb so far but that breeze can turn, no doubt to a freezing gale at times, and not only in winter.
The view here is part of the panoramic walk belonging to the mountain called Creigiau Eglwyseg (455 m). This is a landscape of prehistoric cairns and archaeological sites dating from the Bronze Age. We actually did a lot of that walk on our last visit here in 2017 but now our age interferes with a present adventure. See PiP
Have a perfect day.

The garden is walled - perhaps trying to keep the sheep & goats off the wild flowers growing within - but also for some extra shelter, for seating ...
This bench was probably the largest !
Seat is made from a large slice of tree, and had a family group using it the first time I looked.

It is in fact a man-made weir on the River Dee designed by Thomas Telford. The distinctively shaped weir, which is 460 feet (140 m) long, helps create a pool of water that can enter the Llangollen Canal

Since 2009, the weir has been part of a World Heritage Site, which covers 11 miles (18 km) of the Llangollen Canal from just west of Horseshoe Falls to just beyond the Chirk canal aqueduct and the railway viaduct not very far fro the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. The canal was awarded World Heritage status because of the bold civil engineering solutions needed to construct a canal with no locks through such difficult terrain.
Here we see the Lady of Llagollen, number 3802, a classic 2-8-0 GWR Heavy Freight locomotive renamed today for Mothers day from its usual title of Rockstar. The heavens have opened up but it will not deter the many pre-booked travellers out on a trip to Corwen enjoying the spectacular Dee Valley whilst having afternoon Tea.

The two PiPs show the locomotive switching rails at the terminus tunnel just at the end of the platform and a shot through the carriage window (including rainy reflections) showing the pre-prepared sandwiches, scones and cakes, all part of a traditional Welsh Afternoon Tea, just waiting for the guest and tea-pot.
