Neue Wache – Berlin - 3 PIP's

Die Neue Wache wurde von 1816 bis 1818 nach den Entwürfen von Karl Friedrich Schinkel im historischen Zentrum Berlins errichtet. Bis zum Ende der Monarchie im Jahr 1918 diente sie als Wachlokal des Königs. Zudem galt sie als Gedenkstätte für die Gefallenen der „Befreiungskriege” gegen Napoleon. Sie ist im klassizistischen Stil gehalten. Eine Säulenreihe und ein Giebelfries mit einer Siegesgöttin schmücken den sandsteinfarbenen Bau.

Im Jahr 1931 schuf Heinrich Tessenow dort eine Gedenkstätte für die Gefallenen des Ersten Weltkriegs. Kurz vor Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs wurde die Neue Wache schwer beschädigt. Seit 1960 dient das restaurierte Gebäude der DDR als Mahnmal für die Opfer des Faschismus und Militarismus; 1969 wurden die sterblichen Überreste eines unbekannten Soldaten und eines unbekannten KZ-Häftlings beigesetzt. Sie ruhen noch heute unter der neuen Gedenkplatte. Bis 1990 zog jeden Mittwoch die Große Ehrenwache vor der Gedenkstätte auf.

Seit 1993 ist die Neue Wache die zentrale Gedenkstätte der Bundesrepublik Deutschland für die Opfer des Krieges und der Gewaltherrschaft. Im Zentrum des leeren, schlichten Raumes mit Oberlicht steht eine vergrößerte Replik der Statue Mutter mit totem Sohn von Käthe Kollwitz.

In der Neuen Wache wird heute außerdem bei Staatsbesuchen zum Gedenken an die Toten ein Kranz durch das jeweilige ausländische Staatsoberhaupt niedergelegt.

Phalaenopsis weiss (ca 2 cm gross)

Die Gattung Phalaenopsis gehört zur Familie der Orchideen (Orchidaceae) und umfasst eine Vielzahl exotischer Arten.
Der botanische Name leitet sich von den griechischen Wörtern phalaina (φάλαινα; dt. „Nachtfalter“, vgl. Phaläne) und opsis (ὄψις; dt. „Anblick“) ab, da ihre Blüten an tropische Nachtfalter erinnern.
Im deutschen Sprachraum werden diese Orchideen „Schmetterlingsorchidee“ „Nachtfalter-Orchidee“ oder „Malaienblume“ genannt.

Mir war ein kleines Missgeschick passiert, und die Pflanze ist von der Fensterbank gefallen. Etliche der winzigen Blüten – sie haben einen Durchmesser von nur etwa 2 cm – waren abgebrochen, also habe ich sie in eine kleine Schale mit Wasser gelegt. Dort blühen sie weiter. Da kam mir die Idee, ein paar Fotos zu machen ;-))

In 1399 Workum received city rights and with that the right of mint and measure. In the 15th century, a weigh house was built. The weighmaster supervised the correct weights and measures. The Waag was mainly used for trading butter and cheese.

In 1649, the weigh house was in very poor condition. The city council therefore decided to replace the it with a new building. A year later, a fine new weigh house was built in the center of the city on the Merk; the present building. The building has a hipped roof with a stepped gable dormer on each side. There are also coats of arms in the facades, including the municipal coat of arms with the year 1650.

In 1923, the Waag was restored. The lower floor served as a police station and the upper floor became a library and public reading room. After a new restoration in 2007, the building is used by the Tourist Information Centre and Museum Warkums Erfskip.

Also the following on PIP makes me laugh, this fence owner has a court order to remove it from the public space but, as she (who is an arrogant b...ch) thinks she is above the laws, she doesn't. Meanwhile it became a pee station what drives her mad and make all neighbors smile.

Das absolute Hauptheiligtum und der weltweite Wallfahrtsort ist das Heiligtum von Lourdes in Südwestfrankreich.
Darüber hinaus gibt es weltweit unzählige Kirchen, Kapellen und Grotten, die als "Santuario Beata Vergine di Lourdes" (Heiligtum der seligen Jungfrau von Lourdes) benannt sind.
Allein in Italien gibt es Dutzende solcher historischer Heiligtümer und Nachbildungen der Erscheinungsgrotta.

The Koppelpoort is a medieval gate - part of the second city wall of Amersfoort - which was built between 1380 and 1425. It combines a land and water-gate, which is unique in the Netherlands. The gate was attacked in 1427 during the siege of the city, but was repelled. The name Koppelpoort refers to an area outside the gate, which was called De Koppel. Travellers could be allowed or refused to enter through this combined gate, even if they were travelling over water. In addition, the water levels in the inner city could be regulated with it.

The Koppelpoort did get its current appearance during the restoration by well known Dutch architect Pierre Cuypers in 1885 and 1886. The latest restoration was completed in 1996. Nowadays the Koppelpoort is one of the eye catchers of Amersfoort.

Pistyll Rhaeadr meaning "waterfall (of) Rhaeadr" is a waterfall 4 miles Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant in Powys, Wales, and 16 miles west of Oswestry. It falls in three stages, over a 240-foot cliff-face, and is spectacular, but doesn't compare to other waterfalls in more mountainous regions. When we drove out that day to visit the waterfall, it was a beautiful day but cold, with snow on the surrounding hills.

The road towards the fall is narrow with passing places occasionally, and that day was very icy. At one point Adrian lost of control of the car as it slid down the final slope before the car park. I was not the most popular passenger that day. ;-)

The main photo shows the upper reaches of the waterfall only, and that leads directly on to PiP 1. and finally PiP 2. I needed a much wider angle lens for this photo.

PiP 2 shows the lower reaches of the waterfall continuing to fall.

The SVBony has been a challenge I had equipment stoppage's where the Camera and Mount turned off. While the Pegasus ran from the one power supply SVBony would not I had to use two different power supplies for the mount and the camera. It also turned out the cable I was given with the unit was not capable of providing enough power as the wires where tooo thin. My original cable is a heavy cable so there is no drop in power but it required a different sized end to work.

Add to the power problem the EQMOD cable that runs the mount did not like being on the power unit hub for some reason, so I had to attach it back to the Mele straight not through the SVBony usb hub. I hope the next target has a few less problem's other than clouds and rain.

Contrast the Detail the the Filters bring out of the nebula compared to the single one shot camera above.

Taken at the Bailey Yard, the largest railway freight-handling yard in the world. Located in North Platte, Nebraska.

Taken from their viewing tower ($$), in hopes that you can try to get a feel for the huge place.

Many tracks in the foreground, but there are many more beyond them in the distance.

Das Berliner Stadtschloss wurde ab 1443 errichtet und ab 1451 als Residenzschloss genutzt. Im Laufe der Zeit wurde es im Stil der Renaissance und des Barock umgebaut. Im Zweiten Weltkrieg wurde es schwer beschädigt und 1950 durch SED-Parteiführer Walter Ulbricht gesprengt. An seiner Stelle entstand in den 70er-Jahren der Palast der Republik. Die sozialistische Regierung nutzte ihn als politisches und kulturelles Zentrum, die Bevölkerung nannte ihn wegen der vielen Lampen "Erichs Lampenladen". Nach dem Ende der DDR wurde das asbestverseuchte Gebäude geschlossen und in den Jahren 2006 bis 2009 abgerissen.

Das Bild zeigt den Schlüterhof des Humboldt Forums im Berliner Schloss.

Ab 2013 wurde das Berliner Schloss in seiner ursprünglichen Form wiederaufgebaut. Ein Stück des historischen Stadtbildes wurde an der Stelle einer großen Baulücke wiederbelebt. Drei der Außenfassaden wurden laut Plänen des Architekten Franco Stella rekonstruiert. Die vierte, der Spree zugewandten Seite bildet einen modernen Kontrast. Das Äußere erinnert an vergangene Zeiten, die Innengestaltung ist modern. Das Humboldt-Forum ist ein interdisziplinäres Kunst-, Kultur- und Wissenschaftszentrum. Es bietet Platz für Museen, eine dauerhafte Ausstellung zur Stadt Berlin, sowie für kulturelle Veranstaltungen.

Diese Aufnahme zeigt den Skulpturensaal im Berliner Humboldt Forum, der originale Skulpturen und architektonische Fragmente des zerstörten Berliner Schlosses ausstellt.

Diese Multimedia-Installation befindet sich im Erdgeschoss und bietet auf einer ca. 28 Meter langen Leinwand eine visuelle Zeitreise durch acht Jahrhunderte der Geschichte des Standorts – vom 13. Jahrhundert bis heute.

Ich beobachte ja immer die Natur auf meiner Naturrunde,was normal nicht zu einen Naturobjekt passt,wie hier diese rötliche "Ananasgalle",die ich aud diesen Zweig entdeckte!Sie wird von einer winzigen Fichtengalllaus verursacht,im Frühjahr saugt eine weibliche Laus an den jungen Knospen der Fichte. Durch ihren Speichel gibt sie chemische Stoffe ab, die das Pflanzengewebe manipulieren. Anstatt normaler Nadeln bildet die Fichte an dieser Stelle diese verdickte, gekammerte Wucherung. Die Nadelbasen schwellen an und schließen sich zusammen. In den kleinen Kammern im Inneren dieser Galle wachsen gut geschützt die Larven der Laus heran und saugen am Pflanzensaft.Im Frühsommer ist sie noch grün-rötlich und saftig. Sobald die Larven im Spätsommer (meist ab August) ausgewachsen sind, trocknet die Galle aus, die Kammern öffnen sich wie kleine Klappen und die geflügelten Läuse fliegen aus. Zurück bleibt genau das, was du fotografiert hast: Eine leere, braune "Skelett-Galle", die oft noch monatelang am Zweig hängen bleibt,für die Fichte ist sie aber harmlos in kleinen Mengen!

I always observe nature on my walks, which isn't usually appropriate for a natural object, like this reddish "pineapple gall" I discovered on this branch! It's caused by a tiny spruce gall aphid. In spring, a female aphid sucks sap from the young buds of the spruce tree. Through her saliva, she releases chemical substances that manipulate the plant tissue. Instead of normal needles, the spruce develops this thickened, chambered growth at that spot. The bases of the needles swell and close together. Well-protected in the small chambers inside this gall, the aphid larvae develop and suck the plant sap. In early summer, it's still greenish-red and succulent. As soon as the larvae are fully grown in late summer (usually from August onwards), the gall dries out, the chambers open like small flaps, and the winged aphids fly out. What remains is exactly what you photographed: an empty, brown "skeletal gall" that often stays on the branch for months. However, it's harmless to the spruce tree in small quantities!

Lors de mes promenades, j'observe toujours la nature, ce qui n'est pas toujours approprié pour un objet naturel, comme cette galle rougeâtre en forme d'ananas que j'ai découverte sur cette branche ! Elle est causée par un minuscule puceron gallicole de l'épicéa. Au printemps, la femelle se nourrit de la sève des jeunes bourgeons de l'épicéa. Sa salive libère des substances chimiques qui modifient les tissus de la plante. Au lieu d'aiguilles normales, l'épicéa développe à cet endroit une excroissance épaisse et cloisonnée. La base des aiguilles gonfle et se resserre. Bien protégées dans les petites loges à l'intérieur de la galle, les larves du puceron se développent et se nourrissent de la sève. Au début de l'été, la galle est encore rouge verdâtre et charnue. Dès que les larves ont atteint leur taille adulte à la fin de l'été (généralement à partir d'août), la galle sèche, les loges s'ouvrent comme de petits clapets et les pucerons ailés s'envolent. Ce qui reste, c'est exactement ce que vous avez photographié : une galle squelettique brune et vide qui persiste souvent plusieurs mois sur la branche. Cependant, en petite quantité, elle est inoffensive pour l'épicéa !

Kasteel Groeneveld in Baarn is an 18th-century country estate and one of the finest examples of a country house from that era. Since the 17th century, regents and merchants from Dutch cities came to their country houses to enjoy the good life.

The ‘castle’ was built in 1703 by Marcus Mamuchet and is considered being one of the finest examples of a country house from the Rococo style period. It was built in the tradition of 17th- and 18th-century estates that were intended as summer houses for wealthy city dwellers, mainly from Amsterdam. Groeneveld was probably built on the foundations of a farmstead. Initially, the house consisted only of the central part of the main building and the two outbuildings: coach house and orangery. The side wings date from around 1760.

Kasteel Groeneveld was privately owned until 1940. Nowadays it is owned and managed by
Staatsbosbeheer (a Dutch governmental organization for forestry and the management of nature reserves).
