➽ Blue Baby - eine 2,80 m hohe und 380 kg schwere Skulptur des Friedberger Künstlers Wolfgang Auer

Zwischen 2007 und 2011 hat Auer mehrere dieser Figuren in verschiedenen Größen und Positionen aus Kunststoff und Textilien gestaltet. Seitdem "krabbeln" sie durch Städte und Galerien im In- und Ausland.

Es sollte bis Dezember 2013 auch in Königsbrunn (bei Augsburg) verweilen - leider wurde die Plastik von Unbekannten umgeworfen und so schwer beschädigt, dass es entfernt werden musste. Bereits drei Wochen zuvor hatten Randalierer das Gesicht schwarz bemalt, was der Künstler ein paar Tage später persönlich wieder entfernt hatte.

Seine kleinere "große Schwester" (Golden Girl, 2,40 m lang) blieb zunächst an ihrem Standort.

Between 2007 and 2011, Auer has designed several of these figures in different sizes and positions of plastic and textiles. Since then they "crawl" through cities and galleries at home and abroad.

It should also stay in Königsbrunn (near Augsburg) until Dec. 2013 - unfortunately the plastic was overturned by strangers and so badly damaged that it must be removed. Just three weeks earlier, rioters had painted the face black which the artist had removed by himself a few days later.

Its smaller "big sister" (Golden Girl, 2.40 m long) initially remains at its place.

➽ Ulmer Münster - Fenster
Die Fenster der Seitenschiffe aus dem 19. Jh waren während des Zweiten Weltkriegs nicht, wie die mittelalterlichen Chorscheiben, ausgebaut worden. Nur mit Holzbrettern und Sandsäcken versehen, zersplitterten sie unter dem Druck der, in unmittelbarer Nähe, explodierenden Bomben. Nach dem Krieg hat man zunächst einfache getönte Gläser eingefügt, die auf der Südseite nach und nach durch moderne Fenster ersetzt wurden. Quelle: Ulmer Münster

During the WWII the windows of the aisles from the 19th century were not removed like the medieval choir panes. Only provided with wooden planks and sandbags, they splintered under the pressure of the in immediate vicinity exploding bombs. ➽ Hinter dem Rathaus steht am Elias-Holl-Platz die Klosterkirche Maria Stern mit angeschlossenem Kloster der Franziskanerinnen. Gebaut 1576 von Johannes Holl, Vater des Stadtbaumeisters Elias Holl. Über der Anlage erhebt sich ein bemerkenswertes achteckiges Türmchen mit einer Zwiebelhaube, die auch "Augsburger Haube" genannt wird und, besonders natürlich in Schwaben und Bayern, oft nachgebaut wurde. Das war die erste Zwiebelhaube im süddeutschen Raum.
Das Kloster Maria Stern ist das Mutterhaus der Franziskanerinnen von Maria Stern, auch Sternschwestern oder Schwestern von Maria Stern genannt. Von hier aus wird der weltweite Orden gelenkt. In Deutschland gibt es noch etwas über 200 Sternschwestern, etwa 90 Schwestern wirken in Brasilien und Afrika. Auch dieser Orden leidet, wie viele andere, unter Nachwuchssorgen. The monastery of Saint Mary Star is the Mother House of the Franciscan Sisters of Mary Star also called star sisters or sisters of Mary Star. From here, the monastic orders is led. In Germany there are about 200 star sisters, about 90 sisters work in Brazil and Africa. This monastic order suffers, like many others, under recruitment problems. ➽ The Dorint Hotel Tower is the most famous skyscraper in Augsburg. The building is the tallest building in the Augsburg area and one of the ten tallest buildings in Bavaria.
The 115 m (with antenna 158 m) high tower located in the district Antonsviertel, in its direct vicinity are the Congress Hall and the Wittelsbacher Park.
The reinforced concrete building was planed by the Augsburg architects "Brockel and Smith". In 1972 it was opened as Europe's largest hotel building.
By the locals it's affectionately called Corncob tower.

➽ Jaume Plensa The Secret Heart is an oversized heart that floats in the midst of the gas boiler room (PiP).
It's designed as an anatomical model with red arteries and blue veins that fill the room with wide sweeping gestures.
The heart consists of a cloth material and is permanently maintained in the form by a pump.
A sound installation that will be heard by twelve speakers, enriches the artwork to the dimension of time.
To hear are about 100 citizens of Augsburg various ages and backgrounds which count from 1 to 60. So they give certain extent the seconds cycle.

➽ Jaume Plensa The Secret Heart/Das Geheimherz ist ein überdimensionales Herz, das inmitten des Gaskesselraumes (PiP) schwebt.
Es ist als ein anatomisches Modell gestaltet, mit roten Arterien und blauen Venen, die mit weitausladenden Gesten den Raum erfüllen.
Das Herz besteht aus einem Tuchmaterial und wird durch eine Pumpe dauerhaft in Form gehalten.
Eine Soundinstallation, die durch zwölf Lautsprecher hörbar wird, bereichert das Kunstwerk um die Dimension der Zeit.
Zu hören sind rund 100 Augsburgerinnen und Augsburger verschiedensten Alters und Herkunft, die von 1 bis 60 zählen. Sie geben gewissermaßen den Sekundentakt vor.

➽ Der Sheridan Park ist ein neuer Stadtteil im Westen von Augsburg, der auf dem Gelände der ehemaligen amerikanischen Sheridan-Kaserne liegt. Das Motto des Sheridan-Parks ist "Wohnen, Arbeiten, Wohlfühlen".

➽ Noch vor dem Zweiten Weltkrieg war das Gelände der Sheridan Kaserne landwirtschaftlich genutzt. Zur Zeit der Weimarer Republik plante man hier das Zentralkrankenhaus von Augsburg zu bauen. Diesen Plänen stand aber die nationalsozialistische Aufrüstungspolitik im Weg. Das Gelände wurde für den Bau von Kasernen verwendet. Von 1945 bis 1998 wurde die Kaserne von der U.S. Armee genutzt.

These plans however were a hindrance to the Nazi rearmament policy. The site was used for the construction of barracks. From 1945 to 1998, the U.S. Army used the site of the Wehrmacht barracks.

➽ Nach einem Streit der Fast Food Kette und seinem größten deutschen Franchisenehmers, aufgrund von Hygieneproblemen und Mitarbeiterführung, wurden nun zahlreiche Restaurants geschlossen. Im Raum Augsburg betrifft dies 3 von 4 Niederlassungen! Die obige Filiale wurde bereits im Frühjahr geschlossen. Als ich das Foto machte, kam sofort ein Mitarbeiter und wollte mich wegjagen!
