Der Teufelsberg im Grunewald ist ein 120 m hoher Trümmerberg.
Während des Kalten Krieges befand sich hier die "Field Station Berlin Teufelsberg", eine Flugüberwachungs- und Abhörstation der US-amerikanischen Streitkräfte,die hauptsächlich von der NSA betrieben wurde und als Teil des weltweiten Spionagenetzes Echelon diente.
Nach der deutschen Wiedervereinigung wurden die elektronischen Einrichtungen der Anlage entfernt, 1991 zogen Amerikaner und Briten ab. Die Gebäude blieben stehen, neue Radaranlagen wurden installiert und bis 1999 zur zivilen Luftüberwachung des Flugverkehrs genutzt. Dann verkaufte der Berliner Senat den Teufelsberg an eine Investorengemeinschaft, die u.a. ein Hotel auf dem Hügel errichten wollte. Das Bauprojekt scheiterte. Die Bewachung des Geländes wurde 2003 eingestellt. Der "Lost Place Teufelsberg" war massivem Vandalismus ausgeliefert. Erst seit 2012 wird das Gelände wieder gesichert und bewacht und von Streetart-Künstlern genutzt. Seit 2015 gibt es regelmäßige Führungen auf der ehemalige Field Station.

Teufelsberg is a man-made hill, created in the 20 years following the Second World War by moving approximately 75,000,000 m3 (98,000,000 cu yd) of debris from Berlin.
The NSA built one of its largest listening stations atop the hill, rumored to be part of the global ECHELON intelligence gathering network. The station continued to operate until the fall of East Germany and the Berlin Wall, but after that the station was closed and the equipment removed. The buildings and radar domes still remain in place.
In the 1990s, as Berlin experienced an economic boom after German reunification, a group of investors bought the former listening station area from the City of Berlin with the intention to build hotels and apartments. Berlin's building boom produced a glut of buildings, however, and the Teufelsberg project became unprofitable. The construction project was then aborted. The site has been vandalized heavily since the company abandoned the project. Since 2012 the site is currently fenced off and manned by guards. Organised guided visits were possible until 1 September 2015. Now an artists playground and comune. Visits to view the graffiti art and gain access to the domes is still possible. Vom "Kaiser-Wilhelm-Turm" bietet sich ein spektakulärer Blick über die Havel und den Grunewald.
Das Backsteingebäude wurde 1897, zum hundertsten Jahrestag der Geburt von Kaiser Wilhelm I. errichtet.
Im oberen Teil des Gebäudes gibt es eine Kuppelhalle mit einer Marmorstatue zum Gedenken Wilhelm I. Insgesamt 204 Stufen führen zu einer Aussichtsplattform mit Panoramablick auf die Havellandschaft.
