I took photos of the chataeu from several angles. I liked this one (one of a few that I shot from roughly this spot) because the trees framed the entrance nicely.

This is the rear of the chataeu, being almost symmetrical with the front. In the foreground are the gardens, which can also be toured.

Built in 1794-1797, this church stands next to the Zamek in Dobris. It's also where the sundial in my earlier photo is. If you look carefully, you can see it between the windows on the left side.

Classified as Rococo style, this chataeu dates to 1745-1765, and is the main tourist attraction in Dobris. Built by Jindřich Pavel Mannsfeld, it eventually became the property of the Colloredo – Mannsfeld dynasty. In 1942, the Nazi regime installed in Czechoslovakia confiscated it for their own use, and in 1945 it was handed over to the new Czechoslovak Republic. Before the family could reclaim it, the Communists took over the Czech government in the "Victorious February" coup of 1948, and kept it under government control. It took until 1998, 9 years after the "Velvet Revolution" removed the Communists from power, that the family regained control, although they fled to Austria years ago and now operate the chataeu as a tourist attraction, rather than as a residence. It also functions as a luxury hotel, and as a venue for private events such as weddings.

There were plenty of spare parts stored in the Basilica, including these slate shingles. It doesn't look like they're for the roof, though, as the roof is reddish in color.

The courtyard is actually walled in more than being a part of the main building, as you can see here, looking in towards the rear of the nave.

The Basilica also has a courtyard, albeit one without a garden, and in it are several statues in varying states of repair.

Sv. Kopecek refers to the hill on which the Basilica is built. It isn't a very tall hill, but it still gives visitors a good view of the surrounding countryside, which is mostly flat.

The Bazilika Minor na sv. Kopecku (Basilica Minor on St. Kopecek) was built in 1669-1679, and designed by Giovanniho Pietra Tencalla, although an older church had existed on this site as early as 1078. More recently, this Basilica was a stop on Pope John Paul II's tour of the Czech Republic in 1995.

The Holy Trinity Column was constructed in 1716-1754 to commemorate a plague in 1714-1716. It is considered the largest Baroque sculpture in the Czech Republic, and is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
