This is a sculpture that was conceived in honour of the shoemaker and which aimed to promote, disseminate and value the traditional craft of shoemaking as an identity element of the village of Almodôvar and make it a factor of tourist attractiveness.This impressive sculpture by Aureliano Aguiar was built in order to remember this craft that has crossed several generations, sometimes within the same families, and was considered in not too distant times one of the main means of subsistence of the Municipality, having come to count on about 200 shoemakers in the active.
