Someone scrubbed the Joshua Wyatt marker to make it more legible. While this was no doubt done with good intentions, it's a bad idea, because it does harm to the stone. There are products for cleaning headstones, but grinders and scrapers aren't among them.

This picture was taken for a project in which the same moment was to be captured by photographers all over the world. This little restaurant in Amesville, Ohio, would normally have been bustling with Sunday morning customers, but on this particular day there was a threat of flooding, so only hard-core regulars showed up. Well, also me.
