When it originally opened in 1914, the Power Station was one of the most advanced power centers in all of Europe, however it will likely be better remembered for its ornate Art Deco architecture than its technological wonder. Parts are still used, except the old transformer buildings and the Art Deco control room.

Built in Art Deco style in 1914, closed 2007 - transformer and switchgear building.

The small bunker in the centre is providing protection from the threat of falling glass if an explosion were to have ruptured the magnificent glass ceiling. It was built during the WWII.

The Kavanagh Building (Spanish: Edificio Kavanagh) to the right is a famed Art Déco skyscraper in Retiro, Buenos Aires. Designed in 1934 by architects Gregorio Sánchez, Ernesto Lagos and Luis María de la Torre, it is considered a pinnacle of modernist architecture. At the time of its inauguration in 1936, the Kavanagh was the tallest building in Latin America, as well as the tallest building in the world with a reinforced concrete structure. - scanned slide, Minolta X700

The Chrysler Building is an Art Deco skyscraper with 319 m height (top of spire). It is still the tallest brick building in the world, albeit with an internal steel skeleton., completed 1930, 77 floors. 443.2 m above ground is the antenna's peak. Per the original plans, the Empire State Building's spire was intended to be an airship docking station. The 80th, 86th, and 102nd floors contain observatories. I visited the 86th floor observation deck back then, the higher one was closed for public. - scanned slide, Minolta X700

The Empire State Building is a 102-story Art Deco skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan in New York City, United States. It was designed by Shreve, Lamb & Harmon and built from 1930 to 1931. Its name is derived from "Empire State", the nickname of the state of New York. The building has a roof height of 380 m and stands a total of 443.2 m tall, including its antenna. The Empire State Building stood as the world's tallest building until the construction of the World Trade Center in 1970. Following its collapse in 2001, the Empire State Building was again the city's tallest skyscraper until 2012 (!).
