➽ Das historische Ambiente des Augsburger Christkindlesmarktes (PiP 1 u. 2, klickbar) verzaubert jedes Jahr wieder die Besucher. Mit seiner langen Tradition und seinem vielfältigen Angebot lockt er jährlich über eine Million Menschen nach Augsburg.
Doch 2020 war alles anders, so habe ich den weihnachtlichen Rathausplatz noch nie gesehen - Christkindl musste man selber spielen (PiP 3, klickbar), keine Buden, kaum Leute, aber trotzdem irgendwie eine festliche Stimmung.
➽ Dies sollte eigentlich das 24. Türchen meines Adventskalenders
werden, leider konnte ich es nicht mehr hochladen - da ich hoffe, dass es nächstes Weihnachten wieder anders aussehen wird, kommts heute zu HBM!

But in 2020 everything was different, I've never seen the christmassy Town Hall Square like this - you had to play Christ Child yourself (PiP 3, clickable), no stalls, hardly any people, but somehow a festive atmosphere.
➽ This should actually be the 24th door of my Advent calendar, unfortunately I couldn't upload it anymore - since I hope that it will look again different next Christmas, it comes to HBM today!

➽ Hinter dem Rathaus steht am Elias-Holl-Platz die Klosterkirche Maria Stern mit angeschlossenem Kloster der Franziskanerinnen. Gebaut 1576 von Johannes Holl, Vater des Stadtbaumeisters Elias Holl. Über der Anlage erhebt sich ein bemerkenswertes achteckiges Türmchen mit einer Zwiebelhaube, die auch "Augsburger Haube" genannt wird und, besonders natürlich in Schwaben und Bayern, oft nachgebaut wurde. Das war die erste Zwiebelhaube im süddeutschen Raum.
Das Kloster Maria Stern ist das Mutterhaus der Franziskanerinnen von Maria Stern, auch Sternschwestern oder Schwestern von Maria Stern genannt. Von hier aus wird der weltweite Orden gelenkt. In Deutschland gibt es noch etwas über 200 Sternschwestern, etwa 90 Schwestern wirken in Brasilien und Afrika. Auch dieser Orden leidet, wie viele andere, unter Nachwuchssorgen. ➽ Behind the town hall stands at the Elias-Holl-Platz, the monastery church of Mary Star adjacent to the Franciscan monastery. Built in 1576 by Johannes Holl, father of the city architect Elias Holl. Above the complex rises a remarkable octagonal turret with an onion dome, which is also called "Augsburger hoods" and which was particularly often reproduced in Swabia and Bavaria. This was the first onion dome (engl.) in southern Germany.
The monastery of Saint Mary Star is the Mother House of the Franciscan Sisters of Mary Star also called star sisters or sisters of Mary Star. From here, the monastic orders is led. In Germany there are about 200 star sisters, about 90 sisters work in Brazil and Africa. This monastic order suffers, like many others, under recruitment problems.
