[BR and then eventually Network Rail began running RHTT services - Rail Head Treatment Trains - to control the greasy mess that oil and crushed leaves form on the rail head. Another cure is not to have overhanging trees, but the wind does blow leaves about a bit].

Sunday Challenge ... [12/10/25] ... SC168 ... Change Of Seasons

This is an old image, but shows the changing colour of the beech leaves very well. It's still a bit too soon to see this change in 2025, and recent poor weather - ie gales - has pulled off some leaves of other trees already.
My second choice would have been snowdrops peeking through snow ...

Spray of Acer dissectum, with added autumn colour. These leaves in this spray are the last few still on the tree, and as most leaves are already on the ground, their bright autumnal colour stands out.

Mainly common beech leaves by the side of the path alongside the River Allen, they were soaking wet as it had been raining earlier. There was a lot of beech mast nearby.
