Pompeji war eine römische Stadt, die im Jahr 79 nach Christus durch einen Ausbruch des Vesuv verschüttet wurde (der Vulkan ist nur ca. 10km entfernt).
Weil die antike Stadt dadurch sozusagen eingefroren wurde, liefert sie ein einzigartig vollständiges Bild des römischen Alltagslebens. Sie ist seit 1997 UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe.

Leitfeuer von Kilometer 656 bis 654, erbaut 1984.
Turmhöhe 15 m, Feuerhöhe 20 m (über MHW=mittleres Hochwasser)

Leitfeuer sind Einzelfeuer mit Dauerlicht, die verschiedene Sektoren markieren - durch unterschiedlichen Farben. Die Scheiben vor der (weißen) Lampe sind meist in Grün (Fahrrinne), Gelb (Übergangsbereich) und Rot (Gefahrenzone) gefärbt.
