Diese Küchenschellen (Pulsatilla vulgaris) fand ich inmitten einer Gruppe von blühenden Erdseggen (Carex humilis), siehe Notiz. Das Bild entstand auf dem Burgstall Etzburg in der Nähe des fränkischen Ortes Thüngersheim. Die Wildform der Kuhschelle (wie im Bild) steht unter Naturschutz, die Erdsegge steht auf der Vorwarnliste der Roten Liste Deutschland.

These pasque flowers (Pulsatilla vulgaris) were found in the middle of a group of blooming dwarf sedges (Carex humilis), see note. The photo was taken at Burgstall Etzburg, near the Franconian village of Thüngersheim. The wild form of the pasque flower (as shown in the picture) is protected by nature conservation law, and the dwarf sedge is listed on the German Red List watch list (early warning list).

Bei dem Thierbach-Wasserfall südlich der Mönchsmühle unterhalb von Tückelhausen (bei Ochsenfurt) handelt es sich um ein für den Mühlenbetrieb künstlich geschaffenes Stauwehr. Der Thierbach fließt an dieser Stelle über eine fast zwei Meter hohe Fallstufe. Durch den starken Bewuchs wirkt der Wasserfall sehr natürlich. Bis zum Jahr 2004 wurde der Thierbach von Rittershausen bis Gaukönigshofen auf einer Länge von rund fünf Kilometer für etwa 250.000 € in den natürlichen Urzustand versetzt und bietet nun zahlreichen seltenen Tieren ein Zuhause. Wasserfälle sind in Unterfranken eher selten.

At this point, the Thierbach flows over a drop of almost two meters. Due to the dense vegetation, the waterfall appears very natural. Die Laubbäume der Vorberge des Zabelsteins (einer der höchsten Berge des Steigerwalds) erscheinen schon in einem dunklen Grün, es ist nicht mehr so heiß wie in den Wochen vorher und die Obstbäume sind fast alle abgeerntet. Der Herbst kündigt sich an. Das Foto entstand während einer Rundwanderung um den Zabelstein mit Start in Oberschwappach.

Etwa 200 Jahre alt dürfte diese Platane (Platanus acerifolia) im Hofgarten des Schlosses Veitshöchheim sein. Die Geschichte des Gartens beginnt bereits im Jahr 1619. Ab 1760 wurde er für Fürstbischof Adam Friedrich von Seinsheim (ab 1755 Bischof von Würzburg) gestaltet. Die Platanen dürften um 1825 gepflanzt worden sein. Ein wunderschönes Gefühl, sich am Stamm eines solchen alten Baumes auszuruhen und die Sonne zu genießen.

Ein berühmtes Schmuckstück im Hofgarten des Schlosses Veitshöchheim ist das Grottenhaus mit Belvedere. Unter Belvedere versteht man meist einen Pavillon, Turm oder einen kleinen Aufbau auf einem Gebäude, das speziell dazu dient, eine schöne Aussicht zu genießen. Da am Gebäudeteil darunter in kleinen Nischen viele Figuren, die mit Schnecken- und Muschelschalen verziert sind (ein Beispiel siehe PiP) wird das ganze Gebäude umgangssprachlich auch als Schneckenhaus bezeichnet. A belvedere is usually a pavilion, tower or small structure on top of a building that is used specifically to enjoy a beautiful view. Die Riedholzwiese bei Grettstadt ist Teil eines Naturschutzgebietes. Auffällig sind die vielen Erdeinbrüche (Dolinen), aufgrund des relativ leicht wasserlöslichen Keupergipses im Untergrund und die zahlreichen Sandbirken (Betula pendula). Hier kann man im Frühjahr eine Reihe von blühenden geschützten Pflanzenarten finden, z.B. die rosablütige Mehlprimel (Primula farinosa), siehe PiP2.

The Riedholz Meadow near Grettstadt is part of a nature reserve. It is notable for its numerous sinkholes (dolines), caused by the relatively easily soluble Keuper gypsum in the underground, and for the many silver birch trees (Betula pendula). In spring, you can find a variety of blooming protected plant species here, such as the pink-flowered bird’s-eye primrose (Primula farinosa), see PiP2.

Im Naturschutzgebiet Riedholz und Grettstädter Wiesen kommen vereinzelt auch Moorbirken (Betula pubescens) vor. Es sind sehr große Bäume, die durchaus über 100 Jahre alt werden können. Sie sind eine Charakterart der Moorbirken- und Kiefern-Fichten-Bruchwälder. Die Moor-Birke war Baum des Jahres 2023 in Deutschland.

Das Naturschutzgebiet Riedholz und Grettstädter Wiesen befindet sich in Unterfranken. Es besteht aus einer teils moorigen Wiesenfläche sowie dem Auwald „Riedholz“. Durch den Auwald fließt der sogenannte Unkenbach, an dessen Ufern sich im Laufe der Zeit unzählige Märzenbecher (Leucojum vernum) entwickelt haben. Ein einmaliges Naturschauspiel im Monat März, wenn die Märzenbecher blühen, das jedes Jahr viele Besucher anzieht.

The nature reserve "Riedholz and Grettstädter Wiesen" is located in Lower Franconia. It consists of a partially marshy meadow area and the riparian forest "Riedholz." 1580 wurde das Julius-Spital Würzburg eröffnet, initiiert und finanziert aus seinem Privatvermögen vom damaligen Fürstbischof JuliusEchter. Der goldene Schriftzug über dem Eingangstor (siehe Foto) besagt: "Das Juliusspital für Arme, Preßhafte (übersetzt: Gebrechliche) und Kranke". Das Juliusspital ist Bestandteil der Juliusspital-Stiftung, die 1579 gegründet wurde. Sie hat alle Kriege überdauert und ist bis heute voll funktionsfähig. Fast unglaublich!

Auf dem Platz des sanierten Burkhardushauses in Würzburg steht dieses etwa acht Meter breite mächtiges Kunstwerk des italienischen Objektkünstlers Mimmo Paladino. Paladino hat diese Arbeit extra für Würzburg angefertigt. Es ist ohne Namen, bezieht sich jedoch auf die Arbeit der im Haus untergebrachten Akademie Domschule.

Die Messe im Würzburger Kiliansdom ist zu Ende, allmählich verschwindet auch der reichlich eingesetzte Weihrauch und man kann klarer sehen. Der Dom ist der viertgrößte romanische Kirchenbau in Deutschland (Baubeginn um 1040), in dem sich gotische und barocke Elemente vereinigen. Der Dom wurde im 2. Weltkrieg sehr schwer beschädigt und bis 1967 wieder aufgebaut.

Wer sich die Mühe macht, auf den Berg der Festung Marienberg in Würzburg hochzusteigen, kommt zu einem Aussichtspunkt, wo er mit einem wunderschönen Blick über die Stadt belohnt wird. Der Ort ist zeitweise von Touristen ziemlich frequentiert. Dieser Platz hat sich also herumgesprochen. Die Würzburger Innenstadt wurde im 2. Weltkrieg zu 90 % zerstört (s. PiP, Modell im Rathaus) und nach dem Krieg rasch wieder aufgebaut. Allerdings ging dabei ein Großteil der ehemaligen historischen Bausubstanz verloren.

The place is sometimes quite busy with tourists. So word has got around about this place. 90% of Würzburg city centre was destroyed in the Second World War (see PiP, model in the town hall) and was quickly rebuilt after the war. However, much of the former historical building structure was lost in the process.

Nicht nur in Bamberg befindet sich ein Rathaus über einem Fluss gebaut, sondern auch in Marktbreit (Deutschland). Im Bild der sogenannte Malerwinkel in Marktbreit im schönsten November-Morgenlicht fotografiert. In der Mitte das Alte Rathaus (über den Bach gebaut), rechts das Museum Malerwinkelhaus aus dem 17. Jhdt.. Der Name Malerwinkel entstand dadurch, dass dieser idyllische Ort am Breitbach häufig von Malern zum Malen aufgesucht worden ist.

The picture shows the so-called Malerwinkel in Marktbreit photographed in the most beautiful November morning light. In the centre is the old town hall (built over the creek), on the right the Malerwinkelhaus museum (from the 17th century). Im Park des Juliusspitals Würzburg stehen zwei alte Ginkgo-Bäume, deren Blätter innerhalb weniger Tage leuchtend gelb wurden. Der Grund ist, dass sich der Baum durch die abnehmende Tageslänge und sinkende Temperaturen auf den Winter vorbereitet, indem er das wertvolle Chlorophyll abbaut und im Stamm deponiert. So kommen die übrigen gelben Blattfarbstoffe voll zur Geltung und bewirken die wunderschöne Herbstfarbe.

Gestern gelang es mir, einen auffälligen gelben Tagfalter, der oft mit dem Zitronenfalter (siehe www.ipernity.com/doc/cammino/51818278) verwechselt wird, zu fotografieren. Es handelt sich um die Goldene Acht (Colias hyale), die zu den Weißlingen gehört und von Europa bis Asien auf Wiesen verbreitet ist. Männchen und Weibchen sind schwer zu unterscheiden. Die Raupe ernährt sich von verschiedenen Schmetterlingsblütlern und überwintert auf ihrer Futterpflanze.

It is the pale clouded yellow (Colias hyale), which belongs to the white butterflies and is widespread in meadows from Europe to Asia. Males and females are difficult to distinguish.
