The Mangturm (Mang Tower) - located on the harbour promenade - is a square stone building, which was constructed in the 12th century as part of the medieval city fortifications. The tower had a height of 35 metres high and was equipped with embrasures. The Mangturm was a perfect observation post at the end of the city wall, which also included two neighbouring towers. In order to send signals to ships on Lake Constance, fire baskets were hung on a pole outside the tower.

After the construction of a new lighthouse in 1856, the Mangturm lost its function as a watchtower and signal tower. It was raised by one storey and covered with the distinctive glazed tiles. In 1914, the former tower keeper’s apartment on the upper floor was converted into a viewing room.

The Kleiner See (Little Lake) is the part of Lake Constance between the mainland and the island of Lindau. It has an area of around 20 hectares. It is bordered to the east by the 150 meters long Landtorbrücke. To the west, the 410 meters long railway embankment has formed the boundary of the lake since around 1840.

One of the most well known sites in Lindau is the entrance to the harbour, consisting of the Bavarian lion and a lighthouse. Seen from the shore on the left, the imposing, six meters high sandstone lion statue and on the right hand side the new lighthouse with a height of 33 meters. Between the two structures one has a splendid view towards Lake Constance and the Austrian and Swiss Alps.

Der Bodensee zeigt sich in seiner kompletten Größe eigentlich nur aus dem Flugzeug so majestätisch. Der Seitenarm im Vordergrund ist der Überlinger See, in dem die Insel Mainau zu erkennen ist. Rechts am Bildrand ist die Insel Reichenau im Untersee zu erkennen. Der Reichenauer Damm verbindet seit 1838 die Insel erst als Dammweg und 20 Jahre später als Inselstraße mit dem Festland. Der Vollständigkeit halber ist noch zu sagen, dass der größte Teil des Gewässers Obersee bezeichnet wird.

Costruito nel 1729/30 dalla famiglia patrizia di Lindau Seutter von Loetzen, il "Cavazzen", come viene chiamato oggi l'edificio, sorge sul lato ovest dell'attuale piazza del mercato. Con il suo tetto mansardato curvo e insolitamente alto e la sua facciata elaborata, il palazzo barocco è uno degli edifici più sorprendenti del centro storico dell'isola.
Il nome "Cavazzen" deriva dalla famiglia mercantile lombarda dei da Cavazzo, che si può far risalire al XVI secolo a Lindau, e si riferisce quindi probabilmente a un edificio medievale precedente. Come quasi tutta la parte orientale dell'isola, fu distrutta da un devastante incendio nel 1728.
Nel 1929, l'industriale di Lindau Ludwig Kick acquistò il "Cavazzen". Fece ristrutturare l'edificio per donarlo alla città per la creazione di un "Heimatmuseum". Da allora ospita le collezioni d'arte della città.

Built in 1729/30 by the Lindau patrician Seutter von Loetzen family, the "Cavazzen," as the building is known today, stands on the west side of the current market square. With its unusually high, curved mansard roof and elaborate façade, the Baroque palace is one of the most striking buildings in the island's historic center.
The name "Cavazzen" derives from the Lombard merchant family of Cavazzo, who can be traced back to the 16th century in Lindau, and therefore likely refers to an earlier medieval building. Like almost the entire eastern part of the island, it was destroyed by a devastating fire in 1728.
In 1929, Lindau industrialist Ludwig Kick purchased the "Cavazzen." He renovated the building and donated it to the city for the creation of a "Heimatmuseum." Since then, it has housed the city's art collections.
