Out of the dense green forest waters from the Iguaçu River plunge over several vertical walls of rock.

This photo is a two-exposure merged shot taken by a Yashica Electro 35CC film camera and COLOR-YASHINON DX 1:1.8 f=35mm lens with a Pro 52mm (UV) Japan filter using Kodak Gold 135 negative film, the negative scanned by an HP Scanjet G4050 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

This image came from two Kodak 135 Gold film negatives taken by a Yashica ELECTRO 35CC camera and COLOR-YASHINON DX 1:1.8 f=35mm lens, the negatives scanned by an HP Scanjet G4050 and merged using Photoshop tools.

Yacht Keramos and our friends from Yacht Summer Run sailed from Ilha Itaparica in the Bahia de Todos os Santos up the Rio Paraguaçu to the tiny village of São Francisco do Paraguaçu across the river from the Convento do Paraguaçu. A small child, surprised at our sudden appearance, asked, "Where are you from"? I answered San Francisco da California---She responded with a child's innocence, "You mean there is another São Francisco?"

Uma criança pequena, surpreso com a nossa aparência repentina, perguntou, "De onde você é?" Eu respondi, San Francisco da California --- Ela respondeu com inocência de uma criança, "Existe uma outra São Francisco?"

I was in Rio de Janeiro for the 1983 Carnival. The queen and princesses of the Bloco Cacique de Ramos posed for me. They asked me, "Hey American, do you have tropical blood?" I replied, "It is getting hotter by the minute!"
