Das Gradierhaus im Kurpark von Bad Reichenhall ist ein Gradierwerk für Sole, das in den Jahren 1909 bis 1910 unter der Leitung von Eugen Drollinger als Freiluftinhalatorium errichtet wurde.

Die Reisigwände (PiP) bestehen aus etwa 100 cm bis 120 cm langen, übereinander geschichteten Schwarzdornzweigen der Schlehe und sind 13 Meter hoch und 148 Meter lang, damit stehen pro Seite etwa 1.920 Quadratmeter Gradierfläche zur Verfügung.

Die Gradierung selbst erfolgt weitgehend in herkömmlicher Weise in der Regel von April bis Oktober. Auf der dem Wind zugewandten Seite rieselt fünfprozentige Sole aus der Alten Saline über die Dornwände. Der Inhalationseffekt ist auf der gegenüber liegenden Seite, wo keine Sole tröpfelt, größer, da der Luftstrom die Salzpartikel mitträgt.

Im Vordergrund der Atlas Brunnen (Alpen-Sole-Brunnen) dessen Fontäne täglich 100.000 Liter Salzwasser in die Luft sprüht und sie zusätzlich salzhaltig anreichert.

➽ The graduation tower in the spa gardens of Bad Reichenhall is a brine graduation tower built between 1909 and 1910 under the direction of Eugen Drollinger as an open-air inhalatorium.

The brushwood walls (PiP) consist of blackthorn branches, approximately 100 to 120 cm long, stacked on top of each other. They are 13 meters high and 148 meters long, providing approximately 1,920 square meters of graduation surface per side.

The graduation process itself is largely carried out in the traditional manner, generally from April to October. On the windward side, a five percent brine solution from the old saltworks trickles over the brushwood walls. The inhalation effect is greater on the opposite side, where no brine trickles, because the airflow carries the salt particles.

In the foreground is the Atlas Fountain (Alpine brine fountain), whose fountain sprays 100,000 liters of salt water into the air daily, further enriching it with salt.

Klosterhof mit Laubengang/Kreuzgang des ehemaligen Dominikanerinnenklosters St. Margaret. Jedes Jahr im Juni wurde dort der Wollmarkt abgehalten, daher auch der heutige Name des Platzes.
Das Kloster der Dominikanerinnen in Augsburg wurde mit Hilfe einer Stiftung im 13. Jahrhundert gegründet. Im Jahre 1538 wurde das Dominikanerinnenkloster wegen zu geringer Einkünfte vom Stadtrat aufgelöst. Es ging vorübergehend in den Besitz des Heilig-Geist-Spitals über. Quelle: Augsburg-Wiki

Der ungefähr 80 x 80 m große Platz liegt im Herzen von Augsburg und hat eine unregelmäßige Form, die einem Viertelkreis ähnelt. Anfangs war der Platz erheblich kleiner und beschränkte sich auf den nördlichen Flächenteil des heutigen Platzes. Dort befanden sich im Mittelalter Verkaufsstände für Butter, Geflügel und Eier. Aus diesem Grund trug der Platz zuerst den Namen Eiermarkt. Von 1588 bis 1594 lies die Stadt in der Mitte des Eiermarktes den Augustusbrunnen errichten.
Auf dem südlichen Teil des heutigen Rathausplatzes befanden sich ursprünglich etwa ein halbes Dutzend Gebäude, die während der Bombennacht 1944 schwer getroffen wurden und ausbrannten. Anfang der 1960er Jahre sollte der Platz neu bebaut werden, die Bürger waren jedoch von der freien Sicht auf das Rathaus und den Perlachturm (siehe klickbares PiP) so begeistert, dass sie gegen die Bebauung protestierten. The approximately 80 x 80 m large square is located in the heart of Augsburg and has an irregular shape that resembles a quarter circle. In the beginning, the square was considerably smaller and was limited to the northern part of today's square. In the Middle Ages there were stalls selling butter, poultry and eggs there. For this reason the square was first named "Eiermarkt" (Egg market). From 1588 to 1594, the city had built the Augustus Fountain in the middle of the egg market.
On the southern part of today's "Rathausplatz" (Townhall square) there were originally around half a dozen buildings that were badly hit and burned out during the night of the bombing in 1944. At the beginning of the 1960s, the square was to be rebuilt, but the citizens were so enthusiastic about the unobstructed view of the town hall and the Perlach tower (see clickable PiP) that they protested against the development. This is how the Rathausplatz was created in its current shape and size and was renamed in 1974 from "Ludwigsplatz" (named after the Bavarian King Ludwig I) to "Rathausplatz". Source: Wikipedia

Die mehr als 135 Kilometer Kanalläufe mit den vielen kleinen Brückchen (PiP 1) ziehen im Augsburger Lechviertel meistens die Blicke auf sich. Doch manchmal lohnt sich auch ein Blick nach oben.
Über viele Jahrhunderte seit dem Mittelalter war das Lechviertel das Zentrum des Handwerks, wo sich die Werkstätten von Webern, Gerbern, den berühmten Augsburger Silberschmieden (PiP 2) und vielen anderen Handwerkern befanden. Daher ist das Viertel dicht mit alten Bürger- und Handwerkerhäusern bebaut. An vielen Giebelfassaden kann man Bauphasen aus dem späten 16. und späten 18. Jahrhundert ablesen, die meisten Häuser hier sind denkmalgeschützt.
Nach der Eingliederung der Stadt nach Bayern im Jahr 1806 wandelte sich das Lechviertel vom Handwerkerviertel zum Wohnviertel für die Armen. Viele Häuser verfielen und das Lechviertel mit seinen engen Gassen galt als Brutstätte von Krankheiten.
Da das Viertel im 2. Weltkrieg schwer zerstört wurde, plante man in 1960er Jahren sogar, das ganze Viertel abzureißen, was aber am Widerstand der Bürger scheiterte.
In den 1980er Jahre begannen umfassende Sanierungen und das Viertel wurde zu einer begehrten Wohnadresse und zu einem Anziehungspunkt für Touristen. Aber auch heute gibt es dort noch viele kleine Handwerksbetriebe (PiP 3) Quelle: Augsburg Wiki

The more than 135 kilometers of canals with the many small bridges (PiP 1) usually attract attention in Augsburg's Lech district. But sometimes it's also worth to look upward.
For many centuries since the Middle Ages, the Lech district was been the center of handicrafts, where the workshops of weavers, tanners, the famous Augsburg silversmiths (PiP 2) and many other craftsmen were located. Therefore, the quarter is densely built up with old town houses and craftsmen's houses. On many gable facades you can see construction phases from the late 16th and late 18th centuries, most of the houses here are listed.
After the city was incorporated into Bavaria in 1806, the district changed from a craft district to a residential area for the poor. Many houses fell into disrepair and the Lech district with its narrow streets was considered a breeding ground for diseases.
Since the quarter was badly destroyed in World War II, plans were even made in the 1960s to demolish the entire quarter, but this failed due to the resistance of the citizens.
Extensive renovations began in the 1980s and the district became a sought-after residential address and a tourist attraction. But even today there are still many small craft businesses there (PiP 3) Source: Augsburg Wiki

Nicht wenige der Augsburger Lechkanäle haben ihren frühen Ursprung in alten Flussrinnsalen, zum überwiegenden Teil aber sind sie auf eine künstliche Anlage zurückzuführen.
Bereits im Jahre 982 ist erstmals ein Wasserlauf durch die Stadt in einer Niederschrift bezeugt. Als 1187 der Stadt erlaubt wurde, Wasser vom Lech durch die Stadt abzuleiten, werden zum ersten Mal die Lechkanäle erwähnt. Im Jahre 1276 zählte man in Augsburg fünf Lechkanäle mit zehn Mühlen.
Der Hintere Lech hieß im Mittelalter "Geumulners Laech", benannt nach der hier gelegenen Geumühle.
Nachdem Augsburg 1806 in Bayern eingegliedert wurde, entwickelten sich Gässchen wie Vorderer Lech (PiP1), Mittlerer Lech (PiP 2) und Hinterer Lech (PiP 3) zu einem Viertel für Arme.

In den 1980er Jahren führte man hier eine Altstadtsanierung durch und die damals etwas heruntergekommenen Häuser wandelten sich zu ansehnlichen Wohnungen, wodurch natürlich auch die Mieten gestiegen sind. Der vorher verborgene Hintere Lech wurde im Zuge dieser Sanierung wieder aufgedeckt. Im Anschluss ließen sich hier und in der Umgebung Boutiquen, Bars und Kneipen nieder. Quite a few of the Augsburg Lech canals have their early origins in old river trickles, but the majority can be traced back to an artificial system.
As early as 982, a watercourse through the city was first mentioned in a document. When the city was allowed to drain water from the River Lech through the city in 1187, the Lech canals are mentioned for the first time. In 1276 there were five Lech canals with ten mills in Augsburg.
In the Middle Ages the "Hintere Lech" (rear Lech) was called "Geumulners Laech", named after the "Geumühle" (Geu mill) located here.
After Augsburg was incorporated into Bavaria in 1806, alleys such as "Vorderer Lech" (front Lech) (PiP 1), "Mittlerer Lech" (middle Lech) (PiP 2) and "Hinterer Lech" (rear Lech) (PiP 3) developed into a quarter for the poor.

In the 1980s, the old town was renovated and the houses, which were a bit shabby at the time, were converted into handsome apartments, which of course also increased rents. The previously hidden "Hintere Lech" was again uncovered in the course of this renovation. Afterwards, boutiques, bars and pubs settled here and in the surrounding area.
