Southern rebuilt West Country pacific 34046 Braunton has just breasted the southbound gradient at Copy Pit summit and the driver has shut-off.

This is the Pennine Moor Christmas Explorer, Locomotive Services 1Z87, the 14.37 Blackburn to Birmingham International special.

Copy Pit signal box used to stand to the right of the engine by the brick wall beyond which the Todmorden to Burnley road parallels the railway on the far right.

The going-away shot from the disused overbridge in Birstall gives a good view of the air-smoothed bodywork and tender of Southern Bulleid Battle of Britain pacific 34081 92 Squadron. It is approaching the foot crossing where another photographer is waiting.

We were stopping at the red Down Section signal (extreme left) when Southern rebuilt Bulleid Battle of Britain pacific 34053 Sir Keith Park passed on the Up Main with a train for Leicester North.

On the right is the single line Mountsorrel branch which reopened last autumn.
