The image is of St George, whose face stares out eerily across the centuries. Behind George on the white horse sits a young boy carrying water.  Beneath the horse is the dragon with a human head and face because, we were told, it represents evil. Perhaps the thinking here is akin to Dante's in the Inferno (Divine Comedy} in describing the character Geryon - his pleasant face hides the horror behind it..&lt;/div&gt;</description>
