Happy Fence Friday, All

Holywell Music Room, Holywell Street, Oxford.

The Music Room is the city of Oxford's chamber music hall and is part of Wadham College. It is said to be the oldest purpose-built music room in Europe, and hence Britain's first concert hall. It was built in 1748.

The guy here is real. I'm assuming he is playing an electric sitar. His playing was brilliant! I'm not sure if he is sitting on the case for the sitar. On the side it says 'Grant Vibes' and perhaps this is his name :-) The Bird of Prey is real too. I'm not good at identifying Birds of Prey but I am wondering if it is a Peregrine Falcon. Perhaps someone would enlighten me, please? :-)

The background is a hoarding that is hiding extensive building work taking place at Jesus College.

Now for 'Sight and Sound' I am hoping it is a sitar because I have a tenuous link relating to sitar :-)

"Love You To" by The Beatles from their 1966 'Revolver' album features George Harrison's most extensive and adventurous use of the sitar.

I've walked past the Weston Library many times. I've stood near the entrance many times. I've walked through this entrance area and into the Library many times. But, until just recently, I had not seen this viewpoint as a photo possibility :-)

Then I saw the cover of a book entitled "New Bodleian - Making the Weston Library" and the photo on the cover immediately made me think "yes, there are some photo possibilities for me here :-))

Last Saturday (9 Sep 2017) was 'Open Doors' in Oxford when you could visit places not normally open to the public.

The day started off sunny but we had a rain shower in the afternoon. I didn't have an umbrella so I took refuge in the entrance to the Weston Library. I thought I should try a few, candid, umbrella shots as you would. Then these ladies came into view :-)

Just recently, Paul (autofantasia) introduced us to the wonderful and brilliant Postmodern Jukebox. Links to Paul's photo and associated YouTube video are as follows -

"Jessica" by The Allman Brothers Band is one of my all-time fave tracks. From their 1973 album "Brothers and Sisters". For me a classic rock moment is when at about the 03:43 mark the track flies off into the stratosphere :-)
