It sits dramatically on a small tidal island at the confluence of three sea lochs—Loch Duich, Loch Long, and Loch Alsh—near the village of Dornie in the western Scottish Highlands, along the main route toward the Isle of Skye.
The medieval castle was substantial, with a curtain wall, towers, and a keep. It played roles in clan feuds and Scottish history but was largely destroyed in 1719 during the Jacobite Rising.
The present structure is 20th-century reconstruction, which took 20 years and was completed in 1935,,,,,,,,, HWW! ,,,,,,, large view recommended

The castle dates back to at least the early 12th century, with most of the present buildings constructed between the late 15th and early 17th centuries under the Stewart (Stuart) monarchs. It played a pivotal role in Scotland's Wars of Independence:It changed hands multiple times between Scots and English forces.
In 1304, it was the last major Scottish stronghold held by the English.
Nearby battles include William Wallace's victory at Stirling Bridge (1297) and Robert the Bruce's triumph at Bannockburn (1314), both fought for control of the castle.

It sits at the confluence of three stunning sea lochs: Loch Duich, Loch Long, and Loch Alsh, near the village of Dornie and not far from Kyle of Lochalsh. The castle's picturesque setting, with misty mountains and often dramatic skies, makes it a favorite for visitors heading toward the Isle of Skye (it's just a short drive from the Skye Bridge).

I hope the very soft light and background mist gives this image a unique feel!
HFF and a nice second half of the week,,,,,,, a large view may be rewarding!

The castle walls are generally 1.4 metres (5 ft) thick, or thicker, and have been built from roughly squared blocks of metamorphosed sandstone rock of varying thickness, laid in rough courses of random depth. The stones seem to have been laid without the use of mortar, and have suffered little from weathering, considering that the building may be 1000 years old, (wikipedia)

HWW ! large view recommended!

The castle ruins have been stabilised and the public are free to explore from the dungeons upwards,
In August 1563, Mary, Queen of Scots, visited the castle for three days during her third progress round the west of the country

In 16.9 therefor a large view would probably be better.

The castle which was built before 1240 has a very defensive position having water on three sides, it covers from Firth of Lorn to the Pass of Brander also Ardmucknish Bay and the entrance to Loch Etive.
