The Parish church of St Chadds in Uppermill has always looked most attractive standing well outside the village high up the valley. The bells still toll regularly here and I see the building often as a very nice eating pub (The Church Inn) stands in the church square seen here to the right of the church itself. This Georgian building was built c1830 but a church has sat at this site since 1215 AD.
Another chance to see the lines of our dry-stone walls too, so typical of this area.

Our sixth day on this Island takes us back into the mountains to this fine monastery. Here we see the inside, almost ready for prayer and mass.
“Every year thousands of locals as well as tourists flock to the pilgrimage site of Lluc to worship the statue of the Black Madonna in the 17th basilica of the Santuari de Lluc. The religious and spiritual site is the most important holy site on Mallorca. It is located in a basin at a height of 525 metres and is surrounded by a number of high mountains such as the Puig de Massanella, all within the Tramuntana mountains.

Our fifth day on this beautiful Island takes us a just few miles south of Sóller to the village of Deia, still on this Western coast. This beautiful mountain village is just a few miles from the sea.

"The small coastal village of Deià, on the northwest coast of Mallorca, is one of the prettiest villages on the island. Perched in a ravine at the foot of the Teix mountain, with views out to the Mediterranean below. Deià has long been a magnet for famous artists, writers and other creative people – most notably the writer Robert Graves. Acclaimed author Helen Walsh’s 2014 book The Lemon Grove was inspired by, and set in, the ruggedly seductive setting of Deià."

Such a church could not lie in a more idyllic situation. This beach locally known as Golden Beach for obvious reasons gives us a stunning view towards the church here. Most of the year, one could never find this beach as empty as this. There are some advantages in visiting in early February

Pisa, as we continue our stroll towards the city centre and the fabled leaning tower we spy this wonderful church here on the River Arno.
"Santa Maria della Spina is a small church in the Italian city of Pisa. The church, erected around 1230 in the Pisan Gothic style, and enlarged after 1325, was originally known as Santa Maria di Pontenovo for the newer bridge that existed nearby, collapsed in the 15th century, and was never rebuilt." Memories of Tuscany: Siena

The next town on our Tuscany list is Siena. Here we see a view looking towards the highest part of this charming city, showing its cathedral, ‘Duomo di Siena’. Its construction started in 1196 and it is built with medieval bricks.
The Pip shows the main forward view of this magnificent building.

Not too far away from the bustling resort of Ayai Napa stands the little church of Ayii Anargyri, Cape Greco. A nice spot for a wedding I believe.
