This was just a random shot that I took with my cameraphone while waiting for a train to work. I'm not at Uhrineves very often, so I figured I should take more pictures than I normally would nowadays. I've always been a bit of a fan of the Class 742 diesel, as it's one of the few American-style "hood units" that you can find in Europe, although it is purely Czech-made, being built exclusively by CKD.

I liked the Fall colors of this scene, and I've been meaning to post another shot composed like this for a long time. I really should try to reshoot this with a proper camera, though, as maybe the main reason this is the best I've been able to do is that every time I try it, I try it with the cameraphone.

In addition to the new blue livery on much of CD's passenger equipment, something similar is being applied to freight units, although as I've said elsewhere CD Cargo units now have a different CD logo from passenger units. These Class 742 diesel road switchers were on the freight tracks in Beroun.

There's usually a Class 742 diesel idling in Hostivar as well, handling local switching and freight as needed.

A much more common locomotive in the yard that day was this 742 Class, which was sitting outside a different locomotive shed.

Near Nadrazi Praha-Liben is this freight yard, which I don't know the official name of. The main reason that I've posted this shot is that it reminds me of an old Lionel ad from the 1950's.

As always, there are still a number of old diesel locomotives sitting around the Cercany yard. 742086-2 is still in CD colors, but the logos have been removed from 751004-3, so I don't know who its current operator is.

I keep forgetting which station this was, but I'm guessing Uhrineves for the moment. It could have also been Ricany, but I'm not sure. Does anybody remember which station has that Relay in it? That might be a clue.

This massively saturated, but colorful shot is also from this summer. I love Class 742 diesels, even if they're hopelessly outdated now. They resemble American locomotives to me, as they're among the few hood units to be found in Europe.
