Traditionally, horses were used to help launch early lifeboats. Often, these came from local farms or haulage businesses.
Thwaites Brewery have brought along a couple of the heavy horses that usually haul the show dray.
The grooms have begun tacking up these two beauties ready for the part in front of the camera.

Neil Oliver giving more instructions and advice to the ladies, who are about to have another go.
a) it was a lot colder than it looks
and b) the wheels on the lifeboat trailer were digging into the grass, making it more difficult to pull.
