The road ahead passes through an old silver mining region and the remains of the Idarado Mine before plunging precipitously down the Uncompahgre Gorge towards Ouray.&lt;br /&gt;

This forested area was my playground as a small child during the late 1950s where I developed a life-long love for unspoiled nature. In my child's mind I thought that the peak was called "Parents Peak", and that it was a place for grownups to get away from their nagging children.&lt;br /&gt;

This forested area was my playground as a small child during the late 1950s where I developed a life-long love for unspoiled nature. In my child's mind I thought that the peak was called "Parents Peak", and that it was a place for grownups to get away from their nagging children.&lt;br /&gt;

From our car my sister exclaimed, "Look!! It's Ice Cream Cone Mountain".&lt;br /&gt;
Although maps identify the mountain by a different name, it will always be Ice Cream Cone Mountain to me.&lt;br /&gt;

With only seconds of light left before twilight commenced I quickly propped the camera on a fence post and took my last photo of the day.&lt;br /&gt;
