Designed by John Roberts Tyrone House was built in 1779 for Christopher French St. George, part of an old Co. Galway family with Norman Irish roots.

Empty since 1905, the house was torched by the IRA during the War of Independence in 1921 when the house was rumoured to be a base for the Black & Tan army. An elderly and bed-bound caretaker was reputed to be inside at the time, but the IRA carried his bed, bedding and furniture downstairs, put him in one of the out-offices and then set the place alight.

It has lain derelict since but many of the valuable architectural features have been removed. It is a very atmospheric and melancholy sight especially at sunset.

English Electric DP1, commonly known as Deltic, is a prototype 3,300 hp demonstrator locomotive employing two Napier Deltic engines, built by English Electric in 1955.

The long aluminium beadings on the sides were painted cream, a visual device to make the locomotive's high sides appear more slender and add to the impression of speed.

It's a locomotive wall...

The grey clouds are down on the mountains but there is a colourful bridge over the West Highland railway Line behind the fence on the right & the A82 road behind the other fence on the left. Taken near County Marsh Summit to the north of Tyndrum in the Scottish Highlands. Seen en route from Fort William to Glasgow.
