More than four years after my last visit to the Great Central Railway, it was worth braving persistent rain to provide an updated document of the state of preservation at Loughborough Central. The hard work done there is evident although Class 33 D6535 was looking a little weathered.

I have a natural affection for Class 33, a staple of my boyhood Southern Region, especially when I was able to venture as far as Eastleigh. D6535 looked in pretty good condition at Loughborough.

This is the scene which greeted me at platform level at Loughborough Central, Great Central Railway. In shot (from camera) are Class 33 D6535, Deltic D9016 'Gordon Highlander', Class 27 5401, Class 47 D1705 'Sparrowhawk' and Class 45 45041 'Royal Tank Regiment'. In the distance, on the left is another Class 45 D123.
