It began as a bit of fun in New Zealand in 2015 as I used my camera to note the locations of more mainstream pictures. Then it became clear that some of these shots of street signs are quite interesting record shots in their own right. So, 4½ years later, in Dallas......

Seemingly incongruous in the centre of Dallas, a log cabin is attributed to the city's founder John Neely Bryan. The cabin has been in several locations before this. The accompanying plaque is very interesting.

As a matter of fact I do remember where I was when news was broadcast of the assassination of President Kennedy. On a previous, brief, visit to Dallas I saw The Book Depository. On this occasion, I visited the Sixth Floor Museum which is very good. Posting only three days away from the 56th anniversary of that fateful day reminds me of history and just how long my life has been.

Trinity Railway Express (TRE) train no. 2928 (1021 from Fort Worth), propelled by EMD F59PHI locomotive no. 569, arrives at track 3 of EBJ Union Station, Dallas. The service has a long dwell time at the Dallas station before departure as the 1200 return to Fort Worth (train no. 2931).

Running about 38 minutes down, Amtrak GE P42DC locomotive no. 58 approaches EBJ Union Station, Dallas with train no. 21, the Texas Eagle, from Chicago to San Antonio.

Train 21 operates daily with service continuing west to Los Angeles as train no. 421 on three days of the week.

The overhead electrification is for Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) services.

Running about 38 minutes down on arrival, Amtrak GE P42DC locomotive no. 58 stands at EBJ Union Station, Dallas with train no. 21, the Texas Eagle, from Chicago to San Antonio. In spite of a generous 20 minute dwell time, it did not appear to use any of this to recover.

Train 21 operates daily with service continuing west to Los Angeles as train no. 421 on three days of the week.
